There's been over 20, Gustafsson v Rumble this month?

There is no issue with having PPV's at a normal GMT time.

Well, you mentioned Croke Park and the Aviva, which hold 82,000 and 65,000 respectively.

I know there's a bit of interest in the UFC in Ireland and Europe now, but enough to see over 40,000 fans? I don't think so.

I just believe that MMA is still a niche sport, and whilst they sold out sharpish last year at the O2 it was less than 10,000 seats.

I'd reckon around 25,000 - 30,000 would be a very good number for a show that would most likely be staged at 2am UK time unless it was a non-PPV effort in the US.

The whole thing throws up too many variables in my opinion, which is why they've went for the safe option of Las Vegas.

I agree with most of that.He is making a right name for himself, but i think its a bit of a stretch to expect such massive crowds in such a small country with it not being that populous.Gaelic football yes, an MMA fight? Not yet for me anyway. If he beats Aldo and gets like GSP in Quebec, then maybe down the road.

Im not sure the city of Dublin would be happy at the prospect of 10s of thousands of mad fight fans leaving the pubs and trying to peacefully get to the venue at such times on an early Sunday morning either.

You must have googled the wrong Aviva stadium.

The one in Dublin holds about 50,000.

Croke Park has a habit of attracting big numbers as it is a crowd puller in itself.

You are underestimating how much McGregors appeal has grown in Ireland since his o2 outings, also there would be thousands of genuine ufc fans travel from across europe to watch aswell.

It holds 50,000 for field events like football, but concerts and the like can fit more people in I think.

I'm sure he's popular in Ireland, but he's an MMA fighter, and MMA isn't a mainstream sport.

I don't even think that an Irishman fighting for a world title in boxing would draw 40,000-50,000 people in this day & age.

    PPV in which market?

UFC93 was in Dublin at a normal time. As would a McGregor/Aldo fight be.

The croke park could hold 97,000+ by that logic.

Its all guesswork about what crowd he could attract, but he is the biggest ticket in town at the minute.

I would wager a large sum of money if he wins the Title it would be set in stone his first defence would be a sellout stadium in Ireland.

It is guesswork, that's true, but I tend to believe that if the UFC thought they could do it, they would do it.

I imagine there'd be some serious dough to be made from a crowd of 50,000 odd at a UFC event.

But Only if the timing suits the U.S market.

    That right ?

You think it can only go ahead at 2am or would the Ufc be happy enough for a 8pm show ?

If it was a "free" show on FOX or something then I'd reckon the UFC would be happy to accommodate the time difference and put it on at 8pm UK time, but if they planned on putting it on as a PPV in the US? I really doubt it.

There are more opportunities to watch GAA. Not often Ireland has a World Champion at combat sport. Particularly one as charismatic as McGregor.

The Stadium Director has already stated publically they would be absolutely for it.

There would be no chance in * they'd get a licence for a PPV to suit the American market though and neithe they should. If it's in Ireland it should be at a time which suits Irish fans.

Nah seriously doubt they would even let one start at 8pm over the supposed people in the crowd wouldn't say the GAA would risk it either incase it didn't sell out would they not have the events for this year and next booked out already?
