    Celtic could make a swoop to sign Iran left-back Milad Mohammadi in the next transfer window, according to Football Insider.

    The reliable news outlet claims that the 26-year-old’s deal with Russian side Akhmat Grozny expires in the summer and the Bhoys are interested in signing the left-back as Emilio Izaguirre’s deal at Parkhead is due to end.

    CELTIC could step up their bid to try to land Milad Mohammadi if they sell Kieran Tierney.

    SunSport first told of the Hoops’ interest in the Iranian international a year ago.

    They opted not to splash the cash to land him then after Tierney stayed at Parkhead.

    But they could follow up that interest with Mohammadi, 25, now out of contract after rejecting a new deal at Russian side Akhmat Grozy.

    Tierney looks destined for a move away despite Arsenal’s failed £15 million bid.

    The Hoops have already seen backup left-back Emilio Izaguirre leave and Mohammadi – who rose to fame for his roly-poly throw in at last year’s World Cup – is seen as a real option.

    He has 30 caps for his country and can also play anywhere down the left flank.

    But the Hoops will have to move quickly as it’s understood Mohammadi – whose twin brother Mehrdad plays for Portuguese top flight side Aves – also has interest from Belgian sides Gent and Anderlecht.

    Makes perfect sense for the board. Flog KT for millions... nice wee free contract replacement.

    He would have been a superb kt back up to have.

    Makes perfect sense. Cheap, plenty of experience in a top European league, 30 international caps for a team that are very strong defensively.

    If we get £25m bid for Tierney we will be selling. We need a left full regardless.

    Same way we were * when we sold VVD and replaced him with Ajer? I mean I know that's not how it happened but it's the same principle. Who do you suggest we replace him with? Jordi Alba?

    He seemingly played more games at left mid than left back last season. Scored 1 goal and had 0 assists.
