There's been a good few quality players there in the past 5 years and they all cost next to nothing it's not a bad market at all

If he's not better than both McCourt and McGinn (and I hear he isn't as good as either, but to be fair I haven't actually seen him), what's the point?

He has potential to be better than both. He's already outdone them in terms of goalscoring in the LOI and he is only 20, hit double figures for a poor Derry side this season. Two goals in europe albeit against a * Welsh team and some Belarus side that beat Zulte Waregem.

    Wouldn't cost too much either.

Aye but McCourt wasn't really about scoring a load of goals, I mean as a total package. A lot of really poor players score a lot in the LOI, eg Eamon Zayed, brilliant goalscorer in the Irish League but I wouldn't have in the Celtic team. What are his good qualities, is it just pace?

A winger with 16 goals in 39 appearances? Worth a look anyway.

Im from Derry city so they are my local team. Hes a quality player whos just turned 20 and plays left wing in a 4-2-3-1 formation- very talented though could maybe do with another year in the Irish league. Not ready for celtic first team at all though he does have excellent potential. Would be nice to see him at the celts and Derry could be doing with the money to :celt_2:

Hopefully he turns out to be a cracker. I'd like to see more Irish lads at the club as well.

sounds lije straight into the development squad to me... and that's fine for all concerned. they get some cash, we get some potential, he steps up in coaching and training... win, win, win...

If he did permanently move here it'd most likely be similar to the Holmbert Fridjonsson situation, a player who was playing at a good enough level in his homeland that'll play with the development squad.

Then depending on how well he does there after a year or so, we'll either give him a shot or loan out.

I'm all for signing guys with potential but at 20, to go in to what would probably be our development squad, does seem like another pointless one to me..
I mean we hardly ever get any genuine break throughs and i'm sick of getting guys in and paying there wages (plus a fee) and then shipping them out for free for some sheepshagging * to come in for nothing..

    Why?

It all depends on if they are good enough, I'd probably rather we look elsewhere but if the club think he is worth it then go for it.

Question for the Irish boys on here, is he better than McGinn was at his age?
