They really need to get rid of that Martin Canning, an awful manager who will get them relegated if they don't get rid.

Will be interesting to see the reception Massimo gets on their first game of the season. :smiley-laughing002:

Hope he sticks one past them at Ibrokes.

Actually really good signing for them.
Not overly surprised he moved back to Scotland after that interview/come and get me plea to Brendan.

Clearly enjoyed his time here and wants to come back to Scotland. Can't say he is good enough/young enough for us, but a Hamilton level he is probably their best player.
Unless he has totally gone to pot.

Massimo Donati: I'll find it tough going back to Celtic

HE admits he is an emotional guy and knows he won’t be able to control himself on October 22.

That is the day Massimo Donati will head back to his old Parkhead stomping ground for the first time as a Hamilton Accies star.

The 35-year-old Italian midfielder admits it will be ‘groppo in gola’ — lump in the throat — time.

Former Celtic star Donati says he will be fine once the action starts.

But being back where he had so many great moments in the Hoops might be different.

Ahead of Accies’ Premiership opener at Ibrox next week he said: “It will be emotional to go back and play at Celtic Park.

“I’m Italian, I’m an emotional person. Once the game starts it won’t be difficult for me. I’ll be ready after that.

“But before it, I’m sure some memories will come back into my head, mostly good ones.

“In the first season we won the title, the first one I’d won in my career.

“We also beat AC Milan that season and they’d sold me that summer, so that was nice.

“Then I scored against Shakhtar Donetsk in the last minute, which was another great moment. I went to the Celtic game against Lincoln Red Imps last week and a lot of supporters stopped me on the way in for pictures, so it was good to see I still have a good relationship with them!

“Gordon Strachan was the coach and in my first year it was very good.

“In the second season I had a personal problem with him, but that’s all in the past. He always spoke well about me.”

Donati returned to Italy with Bari, Palermo, Verona then Bari again before his shock summer switch to Hamilton.

A goal on his debut against St Mirren — after which Saints boss Alex Rae claimed his side made Donati look ‘a £100million player’ — gave him the perfect start after a frustrating season last year.

He said: “I didn’t play much. The coach had a player who was younger in my position, but I felt I could still play.

“I wanted to leave Italy and this was the right moment to do it. I see this move as a great chance for me.

“There were opportunities to go elsewhere, but I liked Scotland when I was here, so why not? I was happy, I liked the people and the football.

“I don’t love the weather, but the rest is OK, and where I come from in Udine it rains a lot as well, so I feel quite at home here!

“My kids, Michelle, Swami and Mathias are 15, eight and seven. Two of them were born in Scotland.

“It’s a big move for us, but this is a big chance for them to learn English and have new experiences.
