Celtic Football Club are delighted to announce that B team midfielder Mackenzie Carse has signed a contract extension, committing his future at the club until at least the summer of 2025.

After joining the club’s Youth Academy at 12-years-old, the Scotland under-19 internationalist has played a major role for the Celtic FC B side.

Carse has been a mainstay in the midfield across the last two seasons, playing his part in competitions such as the Lowland League, UEFA Youth League and Premier League International Trophy.

Speaking about his new contract, the 19-year-old told the official Celtic website: “I’m delighted! It’s been a long time in the making. After all the hard work it is nice to finally get it all done and dusted. It’s about kicking on now.

"I always wanted to be at Celtic and to continue my journey, getting better and better all the time.

'I am playing under two brilliant coaches in Darren and Stephen. I couldn’t ask for two better guys to be working under every day, pushing me on.'

"The past two seasons have been a brilliant experience. Last season was kind of my first year playing regular football against men, and I ended up playing a good amount of games. That has continued this year.

"But after the game at Celtic Park against Rangers I feel as though I’ve taken my game to another level, which is what I need to do at my age, just keep get better every week."

Everyone at the club congratulates Mackenzie on signing his new contract, and look forward to seeing his journey continue in the Hoops

Mackenzie Carse is set to join Queen's Park on loan until the end of the season.

The Celtic midfielder, 19, will join up with Callum Davidson's squad at The City Stadium after a decision was made by both clubs to green-light the move. Carse has made 18 appearances for the Hoops' B team in the Lowland League and scored seven from the centre of their engine room but Football Scotland understands Celtic want their player playing at a higher level and Davidson is the man to help take his game forward.

Carse has been in Celts' academy since he was 13 but is now believed to be ready for Championship football. He's been training with the first-team alongside fellow academy graduate Daniel Kelly who was also part of the first-team squad photo earlier this season.

Good move, I'd have been tempted to start him vs Buckie in the 10 spot if he'd stayed since he's been getting on the scoresheet regularly this season. Half season at Queen's Park could do him wonders then if hits the ground running hopefully a top tier team will fancy taking him on loan next season.

We need some investment in the B team to replace those going on loan though, it's already pretty bare

That's a good move and I like the forward thinking on display here. Playing in the B team in the 5th tier of Scottish Football is one thing, so testing him out in the 2nd tier will see how he goes at that level here, or even in the Premiership, but at a higher standard than what I presume he has been playing against atm.

Certainly can't hurt the lads development without completely throwing him in the deep end of first team football, let alone trying to compete for a spot in an area of the pitch where we do currently have already got options, in CalMac, O'Riley, Hatate, Turnbull, Holm, Bernardo etc. And therein lies part of the forward thinking, given the Turnbull situation to take into account, and if he does move on (or indeed not to forget that Bernardo being on loan also) there could be there is a young Scottish player can potentially be included in next year's first team squad, to help with European quotas etc.

    Good luck, Mac!

Scotland Youth International Mackenzie Carse is joining Queen’s Park from Celtic on a temporary transfer until the end of this season.

The 19-year-old, who has played for the National side at under-16, 17 and 19 level, has been gaining experience with Celtic B this season in the Lowland League where he has featured in 18 games and found the net seven times.

Mackenzie has been with Celtic since he was 13 and joins up with his team-mate Ben McPherson who has been on loan at the Spiders since the start of this season.

Head Coach Callum Davidson said: “In terms of building the squad this January a lot has been said about bringing in experience. We have done that with Sean Welsh and are still looking to add a couple of more players who fall into that category, however bringing Mackenzie in ensures that we keep the blend between high potential young players and experience right.

“He is a player that has shown in his displays for Celtic B this season that he is ready to compete for a first team jersey at a high level. He will get that opportunity to compete here and if he takes it the next opportunity for him will be to show that he can play at this level every week.”

    Great move for the lad.

Getting the * away from mcmanus and odea for 5 months will surely aid his development

We need to get as many of our upcoming players as possible out on loan, the level the b team is playing at will do very little for their development, honestly think they'd be better off just playing a bounce game against our own fringe players and guys who didn't get off the bench each week.

Diddy teams don't want it and suppose it makes sense when you see the nymcer of ex celtic and hun academy graduates littered throughout Scottish football.

Out players don't get the right development and end up getting released and picked up by the Diddy teams and in turn they end up with a higher standard of player than what they would of developed within their own academy without having to spend thousands doing it
