If he was 24 or younger, I'd agree. But at 26, he's unlikely to get much better.

We need a GK more than any other position. Let’s hope they sort that.

He’s one of those guys who isn’t better than O’Riley, McGregor, Bernardo and Hatate but he would be a much better option than all the caper that comes after them four in the pecking order.

What are you basing that on? He will be around better players ,better coaching and a better set up. We also signed Hartley and Robson at an older age. Players peak at different ages now. We know he can perform in domestically and has an energy that we haven't always in midfield.

I actually think he’d be ok as a squad player.

Certainly better than the likes of Turnbull, who had the mobility of my Great Aunty Linda.

If we can’t get the left back situation sorted what makes you think we will get the keeper one lol.

Didn't say he wouldn't improve at all, just don't think he'd improve enough to be worth his place in the squad.

I actually think he’s a decent wee player but it’s just not very inspiring is it? We are getting Bernardo, who kinda replaces himself in the squad. Who’s McCowan going to be replacing? We already have a bundle of midfielders, some we can’t even get off our books.

Not really sure of this one at all.

I thought he was excellent whenever I seen him but we are pretty stocked.

I think he’s a smashing player and posted a while back that we should be looking at him. I think he will raise his game with us.

    Like Robson and Hartley did.

Would be pointless when you consider we already have guys like Iwata, Holm and Kelly as squad players. He's not coming here to be a starter and he in no way improves us. He's 27 this year and the season just gone was essentially his breakthrough

This is exactly the sort of signing we need domestically. We have bucket loads of skill and technical ability but last season showed us that we can't rely on a team full of guys from Korea, Japan, Honduras etc to get stuck in on a cold December evening at Rugby Park or Tynecastle.

Very confused as to why people are comparing this "signing" to Hartley or Robson.

A: Both Robson and Hartley were signed by Strachan, a very different manager, at a very different financial time. We were fully downgrading and cutting cloth.

B: both players were full internationals BEFORE they signed for Celtic, at a time when the Scottish premiership was far stronger than it is now.

We shouldn't be anywhere near a signing of this standard. He's a tidy player, but so are the players we have right now, playing in his position, and younger too.
This is utter madness to me. That we can literally sit on our hands, making Sevco level enquiries for players when we have tens of millions in the bank.

Celtic fans are like Disney Star Wars fans these days. Willing to be spoon fed any oul * and grasping at straws to justify it. McCowan couldn't lace Robson or Hartleys boots.

If we sign Luke McCowan I will be right back where I was at the start of the season; asking why the * Brendan Rodgers is our manager.

    Completely agree.

Sole questions to ask as well, does he improve the starting 11 (displacing one of the three central midfielders currently)? No.
Is he better than the fringe players we already have, in Holm, Kwon, Kelly etc - debatable.
Does he have potential to grow and develop, potentially to become better than starting 11? No.

It's just yet more medicore * to bloat the squad.

Sincerely hope this isn't a signing we make.

Decent player, not our level. He’s not near the level of Hatate, Calmac and O’Riley we will need a quality replacement for O’Riley if he goes too not mccowan. He’s also not better than bernardo and debatable whether he’s better than the likes of Iwata and holm. Even people saying take him as a squad player, we have enough of them. Would rather give the game time to Kelly, Lawal or mckenzie carse if he’s still with us. Hard pass

It's a no from me on this, not because I think he's rotten, I actually think he would be a fine squad player (especially as HG). However, we have a bloated squad as it is and there just isn't room for him and at 26 I doubt he improves enough to be 1st choice. And at the moment he doesn't get ahead of Calmac, Bernardo, Hatate, Iwata or O'Riley. Any game time he got I'd just feel that should be a youth player getting.
