On the birthday of Liam Miller, I find myself reminiscing about times past.

What a player we seemed to have on our hands. I remember being gutted when he left.

    Where is he now?

He did come back to play for Cork but I am pretty sure he moved again, to a team in the US that's down a few divisions.

I feel a lot more ill will towards him than say, Feruz. Purely because we took care of Liam while he was injured, yet as soon as he starred for us he * off first chance he got.

I don't rejoice at his failed career but I can't help having a wry smile when yet another mercenary realises the grass isn't always greener. In fact it rarely is.

Liam is now playing for a semi-pro team in North Carolina and doing some coaching over there.

I am from Cork myself and am also a City fan, I saw quite a few of his games there where he did what he always did and flatter to deceive, a lot. Still had excellent technical ability but lacked in other areas of his game.
I remember him in one game bringing down a seemingly impossible ball, followed by a sombrero, a nutmeg and a failed six yard pass.
Although he had a couple of good performances for Celtic he massively believed his own hype, he broke into a first team squad that was absolutely flying in terms of confidence and his goals in Europe meant he overestimated his own ability, as did others. He would certainly have had a better career if he had stayed at Celtic and a few more Ireland caps(I was at the game he scored his only international goal, it was a thing of beauty in fairness!) but he would never have been a great.

Proof even before Watt that if your young and do well with us, score a good goal in Europe if you're not smart and start thinking your gods gift then you will likely flop

Honestly he had a good 3 months and Man Utd offered a deal that should have set him up for life. Dont grudge him leaving.

It shows how hard it is for young lads to break through at clubs like ours and keep themselves grounded, there are very few like Kieran Tierney.
