Liam Henderson

I see some people criticizing us for loaning him to Hibs and Rosenberg. I think he succeeded because of that. Not despite of that.

Having the chance of being the one of the top players of a popular side, be instrumental in winning a scottish cup. He played for the "Norwegian Celtic", a team that is the huge favourites and plays against locked up sides playing for the draw. A few months more there and he would have played in the Europa League stage for them. There is no way playing for a diddy league one team would be better for him than that.

 

Rogic signed as a 21 year old, we were his second club, arguably still in the 'youth' bracket. Same as Henderson was when we sold him. We all got shot of him to Melbourne and thought he had no chance here.
Some times it just takes a year or two longer, or the right coach, team, league etc.


I'd be more up for sending players on loan to top flight football/reputable leagues if we could. Ajer to Killie was good, Christie to Sheep was a decent shout, McGregor to Notts County was a fair shout. Imagine if Henderson to Bari was actually just a loan deal.

As opposed to sending our youngsters to the greenock mortons (no offence morton) of the world, where they aren't really getting tested or developing, they are just clocking in game time.

 

Henderson got sent on loan to the biggest team in Norway and still never got his chance.

I wouldn't be too sure on youngsters we're trying to get off the book's for peanuts..

It's something we should be doing though within reason, no just our first teamers..

 

I honestly think we will have a wee cheeky 15% in there. With the deal being so cheap we would have been silly not to.

 

I doubt it he had 6 months on his deal when he went.

 

Why was Henderson not in the Scotland squad? Would have been ideal to have him there for Peru and Mexico to give him a try. Couldn't have been worse that some of the * that made the team.

Surely McLeish knows about him and how well he has been doing? Or that's what any decent manager would know anyway.

I think he will get there at some point, he is still only 22. We also have to face the fact he has only played in Serie B since January. The league is not as great as you would think. If he can get a move to Serie A then we can look at him more.
With regards to his Rosenborg stint being mentioned, yeah he played in a title winning team but only played about 10 games. I am more surprised he didn't go to Hibs after winning the Championship with them.

Fiorentina are in negotiations to sign Scottish midfielder Liam Henderson after his six months in Serie B with Bari.

The 22-year-old came up through the Celtic youth academy and had loan spells with Rosenborg and Hibernian.

He was sold to Bari in January and helped them reach the promotion play-offs, contributing two goals and two assists in 19 appearances.

According to Sportitalia, Henderson aims to extend his stay in Italy and make the step up to Serie A for Fiorentina.

 

Let him go for a packet of crisps and 6 month's later he's signing for 1 of the European regulars in Serie A..
