Without inside knowledge, all transfers should be assumed to be off the back of the "Recruitment team". You cant go slagging Congerton for Eboue/Compper and then be "amazed" if he signed Morgan or even a success like Edouard.

Do you think Lee Congerton was brought in to watch Scottish Championship games?

Lee Congerton was brought in to oversee recruitment, Lee Congerton overseen recruitment. Paisley to Krasnodar, good job or bad job, he is literally the head of recruitment. I'm struggling to see where you are going.

    Aye you can.

I believe that Rodgers wanted him on the basis of his decent performance v us in the Scottish Cup in the 2016/17 season. He spoke about him after the game and was full of praise for him and St Mirren.

Put them both on loan to Aberdeen and add an option to buy to Hayes for them.

Rodgers sees him once, informs recruitment team, recruitment team watch, recruitment team deliver a verdict.

Congerton has, or has had a piece of involvement, in every single transfer we have had up until probably this Jan where there are maybe doubts.

You cant slag Congerton for Eboue and then alleviate him from any potential Morgan slagging, if slagging his recruitment. He is head of recruitment, every single signing goes through him if his position is taken into consideration. Stupid to suggest otherwise, even if it was a performance from x match that alerted the club. Many performances will alert the club, but only a fraction will be signed after scouting - That's how it works.

I'm not saying what you're saying is wrong but I believe when Rodgers has already seen them first-hand and been impressed then Congerton's input is minimal. eg. Rodgers couldn't stop talking about Hendry whenever we played him. Congerton could've came back and said he had links to ISIS and I'm sure Rodgers would've still done the deal.

You shouldn’t be, I couldn’t be more straightforward.

Lee Congerton is a useless *.

All ifs and buts, only fact is that Lee Congerton is head of Celtics recruitment. He oversees our recruitment, as per his pay cheque.

Another class argument.. Congerton is head of recruitment, he oversees recruitment. Any signing is on his head and CV. So simple.

That’s not how it works. If it were than he’d be responsible for Toure and subsequently Bayo. Which, clearly for anyone with common sense, isn’t the case. For example.

Congerton joined nearly a year after Toure, but good try.

You’ve completely missed my point, who is responsible for the Bayo scouting/transfer.

I'm pretty sure we were impressed with Morgan when he and St Mirren gave us a big fright in the cup at Celtic Park and Brendan really liked him then..

He done the same with Hendry at Celtic Park where he marked Sinclair out the game at right back..

Are you suggesting purely Kolo Toure? :56:

Brendan hasn't even seen him playing :56:

If Toure brought it up, it goes Toure-Recruitment-Brendan/Lawwell.

Kolo Toure isn't rubber stamping signings ffs :56:

And where do you think it goes from there?

It's a chain. Brendan impressed, informs his transfer man, delegates scouts, returns verdict.

That people that Brendan has put in place behind the scene's get it over the line (that's their job, although we seem to fail miserably at that with more high profile player's). Congerton and whoever else..

That doesn't change the fact that Brendan has blatantly watched these player's live and made a judgement his self that he wants them in....as opposed to player's brought to his attention..

I never said Toure rubber stamped anything. I’m telling you Congerton had nothing to do with Bayo being scouted or signing.

You’re telling me Congerton is responsible for all players being looked at and brought in, I’m telling you that isn’t the case and providing a live and topical example.

If Kolo Toure makes a suggestion, it goes to Congerton and the scouting team next. It’s really that simple.
