When does our actual transfer window close?

I've not yet seen Lennon's comments post-Tierey transfer, but surely the board/club aren't stupid enough to think that the fans will settle for losing our brightest young player (and then future captain) and not spending a large proportion of the transfer fee on upgrading the team?

Surely...

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that the record transfer fee received for Kieran Tierney will help him with recruitment before the end of the transfer window but he plans to let players leave before any new signings.

Tierney left Celtic for Arsenal in a £25m deal on Thursday, leaving Lennon needing a left-back to compete with Boli Bolingoli and the manager has other positions he wants to fill.

Though he played down comments about five new arrivals as humour that was taken out of context, he revealed that the two or three he wants to bring in wouldn't be the priority with some in his squad needing to move to get game time.


We're looking at maybe two or three players but we also need to move a few players on or out to get them playing to make room in the squad," he said.

"Until we do that we may not bring anybody in as yet.

"[The Tierney money] makes things a little bit easier in terms of pushing the boat out a little bit more but we're not going to be breaking transfer records and be silly spending money.

"We've got targets in mind and we're working away on that to see if we can get deals done sooner rather than later."

Having sold one of their most valuable assets, Lennon said the club had no intention of allowing any other stars to leave and he said that he would speak to Callum McGregor after an approach from Leicester City was rebuffed.

 

Hmmm, could look at some of those comments either way.

He may be saying that for players that have ALREADY left we're looking at replacements for them i.e. right back, and now left back, maybe CB, and that if he wants any new wingers etc then might wait to get rid of a few of them first before bringing in new signings for those positions.

Realistically we only NEED 3 signings - LB, RB, CB.

 

Still think we're on the lookout for a quality CM..
Unless, we're going to wait until January for Turnbull ?

Farcical. Sign some * players Celtic.

We've lost Tierney, Boyata, Lustig, Benkovic, Izzy, Weah, Burke and Toljan from the first team squad. A few reserve players have left as well. All we've brought in is 3 first team squad players.

There's no need to sell more players in order to bring others in. We have one left back at the club. One competent right back. 3 competent, natural centre backs - one who is attracting interest from Lille.

Lenny's quickly went from telling us what we wanted to hear to the same, generic, board fed pish that we've been hearing for years.

 

All our managers spout the exact same pish when it comes to transfers, who we let go should have absolutely no bearing on who we sign especially at this point, this was supposed to be a summer for a rebuild.

 

And is apparently out for a few weeks injured!

 

We’ve lost 12 players, and a lot of big wage players at that and brought in 3 first team players.

How the * do we need to get rid of more players before we can buy.

Utter laughable, but absolutely typical.

 

13 players gone potentially another 5 out looking to replace them with 5 or 6!

See if we got a RB, LB and CB I think most would be happy tbh

The p.l 25 man squads in today. When are the squads public knowledge? Surely great bit of value to be had there with most likely very good players left out in cold

Fans shafted as usual but we need to just deal with it.

I'm done with Celtic if come 2nd of September there has not been serious investment in the team.

We have been desperately needing quality and we are not getting it done! It’s like the powers at be at the club want the on field part of the club to * fail by gambling and very * year!

If we don’t bring in what we need we will * the 9 never mind the 10.

* sick of this penny pinching *, cut the playing squad already and reduced the * wage by a massive amount, got compo for the snake and then KT being sold yet we need to move more on before more coming in!
