So far both Scepowich and Chiftci have been fumbling when tried as lone strikers in the team.

It doesn't mean that I dont't rate them or that I want them to fail. Quite the opposite.

And yes, Leigh Griffiths is a world class goal scorer. If world class is, lets say, Premier League quality.

His abilities inside the box to turn and shoot, or to step past his man and shoot in a fraction of a second is exceptional. His instinctive judgement and accuracy when he is alone with the goalie is also a natural gift seldom seen elsewhere.

Leigh Griffiths is a good goalscorer.

However the phrase 'World class' and his name should never be in the same sentence together.

We've had this debate before and I'm not getting dragged into it again. It's laughable.

Give him a fraction of a second and he will score.:smiley-laughing002:

He misses a * load of chances.

Every striker misses * loads of chances.

But not every striker manages to GET TO * loads of chances.

And only a rare few strikers actually manages to score * LOADS of goals .

Like Leigh Griffiths has done since the time he started playing senior football at 16 years old.

Like he has done for Celtic, even as a sub most of the time.

Like he would do if he played for Southampton or another mid-table Premier League club.

A degree seldom seen before? What? Scott McDonald had a good record as well, but was a million miles off world class.

OK, so let's define "World class"

If it means "the best in the world", there is only one person who fits in the category: Lionel Messi.

If it means able to play in the better teams in the biggest leagues, the BPL, Ligue1, LaLiga, SerieA, etc. then Leigh Griffiths is obviously of that calibre.

So "World Class" means able to play for some of the best teams in the world.

He is already the best striker at one of the best teams in the world, namely CELTIC.

    And he is only 24...

I reckon Griffiths and Jackson Martinez would make quite a lethal partnership to be fair.

World class as in " that Jozey Altidore is world class" just asking for clarification.

I generally feel that in modern society, superlatives are over used and thrown around too easily; a consequence of sensationalist media I suppose. So it doesn't surprise me that in the fickle world of football, words like 'world class' and 'legend' are over used and have lost any substantial meaning.

I remember when saying someone was world class, used to actually mean something and was reserved for a small number of players. Leigh Griffiths, sadly, is not one of those players.

World class, as a phrase, should be limited to the top 20 players (at most) of each respective position. Griffiths is not at that level and never will be.

Leigh Griffiths would have taken all 5 of those chances for Man City today against Chelsea.

Imagine Sergio Aguero only taking 1? *.

Only world class player in our ranks is Craig Gordon. Van Dijk and Bitton might possibly become world class.

Craig Gordon, as good as he is, isn't world class either. Mcg's post hits the nail on the head.
