Absolutely no point to these signings, connell, afalobi, o’connor, likely add in shaw and urgohide.

I've no idea what these type of signings benefit a club like Celtic.

They are essentially free at worst if not making a profit overall. For every few who don't make it Allan, Janko, Riordan and whoever you have ones that do like Rogne, Mulgrew, McCourt, Rogic and Christie. Then you can also hit the jackpot like Wanyama, Frimpong and Ajer.

Wanyama, Frimpong and Ajer were sold for like £40million combined, that covers about 80 of these type of signings and out those 80 more will be future Rogic, Christie, Frimpong and whoevers.

Even Tony Watt scored that big goal against Barcelona.

Ajer I’ll give you, but Frimpong came in and proved himself right away so that was different. I think Sonic’s point is the amount of these deals we do and you never hear about the players ever again. It’s * money up a wall especially when we pour all sorts into our own academy.

I agree Frimpong proved himself immediately. Just don't think that was expected so still think he was bought for the same reasons. Just exceeded expectations.

He was the reason we do it.

All the players we buy are for the same reason, we need to sell as that’s our blueprint now. But the argument is instead of throwing out a net and signing everything with 2 legs on a free, how about doing things better and try putting that money into our own academy. When you look at the mainstay of our team the last few years it’s done better than this practice imo.

Not disagreeing. Just pointing out one or 2 others had come off when buying in "youth" players into the academy.

Fair enough, I just think we go a bit OTT when we do sign these types of players. It smacks of all the £2 million type players we have wasted money on, when you add it all up the simple thing to do is sign the one player on a higher fee.

To bring them in probably cost about £7million. Yet they have been sold for probably like £50million and about 20% of them gave us good service. They're most of the ones I recall in the past 10 or so years.

It's a model that works as it's pretty much risk free and offsets some of the loses we take on bigger transfers.

Even some we bring in at £250k feel a bit humming this window.

    Hopefully I'm wrong.

Fair enough I bow to your knowledge, but we brought through Tierney and is our record sale. I feel the scope is there to use our academy a lot more than we are doing.

A signing that never made any sense.

I am going to disagree. I have watched him play a fair number of times for Ireland's U21's and I really felt he had a shot at Celtic. It didn't work out and it would be best really for him at this point to move on permanently probably but I genuinely thought O'Connor had a decent chance.

What will be interesting in future with these types of signings is if we get the new Celtic B into the spfl pyramid in the lower divisions is will that help prove to be a better development structure for a few more of these types of signings to ultimately break into the first team. I would think that is the mind set going forward with the Celtic B team.

If the Celtic coaching staff can look at JJK playing at RB for half a season, keeping Ralston out of the side, then a decent prospect like LO'C has no chance. His development in the care of Kennedy and lap top, a joke.
Just cannot believe Ange has not skidded those 2 Turkeys.

Surprise for me is he got virtually no pre-season. Uroghide being ahead of him isn't a great indicator given RB is O'Connors position.

Good he's getting more game time but almost wonder why it wasn't a permanent given his age.
