He’d be a brilliant signing(only if we buy him outright) - along with the lad Parrot at Spurs he’s probably the most highly rated kid within the Irish set-up.

He can play full back, centre half and midfield.

A player I actually suggest linked.. sign me up Celtic...... This guy is a class act.. can play right back, left back, centre half and centre mid. In fact he played centre mid for the u19s ahead of Coffey. Right back is his best position mind. The best player on that u19 squad during summer and is also nailed on starter for the u21s at right back.

He’s supposed to be class and can play all along the back line.

Quite small for a CB though.

Never heard of him which is odd if you lot are saying he's so highly rated. Was he a part of the Ireland u19 side that went far in the Euros?

He looks excellent...particularly at left back for a right footer..

Just reading a bit about him there putting his name in. In the squad for United's champion's league game for Barca last season. Called up to the full Ireland squad for Denmark I think it was..

We seem to be tapping into to the Irish market more. Wonder if this is a Duff influence?

Really do seem to be sorting our academy out with quality. Was needed in my opinion to compliment the quality we already have coming through..

Celtic are set to sign rising Manchester United academy star Lee O'Connor on a permanent deal.

The 19-year-old Irishman is a target for the Premiership champions who are looking to beat the transfer deadline in their bid to land the versatile defender.

Celtic have their sights fixed on one of the Red Devils' hottest commodities but Manchester City right-back Jeremie Frimpong remains an option.

O'Connor, who has been at United since 2016, has impressed at youth level and earned a place in United's Champions League squad last season.

The right-back has played over 100 games at youth level for the Old Trafford side and was Martin O'Neill also included him as part of his Republic of Ireland squad for a Nations League encounter with Denmark.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon has already added two right-backs this summer after the arrivals of Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer.

Former Manchester United stopper John O'Shea is a massive fan of O'Connor and reckons the former Waterford graduate can go all the way to the top.

He said: "I saw Lee up close and other people had been talking to me about him and I’d been trying to keep an eye on his career.

“Look he was quality, top quality on the pitch. He looked very comfortable, he went right-back to left-back in a breeze, it was no problem to him.”

    * me! Always get him for us on Football manager, if thats not a good sign...

On a more serious note, like the way it goes. Experienced loans and our younger lot are signed on permanent basis. Well done.

There is the potential of a golden generation on the horizon with Parrott, Lee oconnor, Nathan collins, Dara oshea, kilkenny, knight, obafemi, Connolly, idah, Travers.. personally O'Connor is right up there with Parrott ability wise.. no matter if he's put rb, lb, cb or cm he just gets on with it. Savage attitude
