Last of Us (HBO)

Really enjoyed this season but it’s definitely felt a bit rushed - pace wise.

Cannot believe the last episode is less than 45 minutes.

 

It’s felt really sedate to me. All the better for it as well. So many game to live action suffers under the weight of cramming in the action. TLOU has done a great job of balancing it out.

 

Done the voice of Batman a few times and has done the joker I guess with the death of conroy and hamill retiring he will be cast as they two most times

So... i've bit the bullet and decided to just catch up on these prior to ep 8 coming out on Monday.

The good bits:

1. Really enjoying it and its been great to see how close to the source material they're going.
2. Originally i had reservations over casting but it goes to show what i know. Pedro and Bella are class together and cant wait to see more.
3. I've been a bit nervous for how they were going to handle what turned out to be ep8 this week and they absolutely nailed that part. We all know how this should play out next week, so hoping for no major changes.

The bad bits:

1. The pacing. I agree with @Officer Doofy that it feels rushed at times.
2. Theyve crammed the first game plus DLC into 9 episodes (and 1/9 was pointless filler - which is next up), quite a lot of good plot points are missing.
3. I need to talk about the Bill and Frank episode. Although nice it for what it was, it was absolutely pointless filler which has brought nothing to the table in terms of driving the story on.
4. This is maybe for people who never played the games. I've been watching with my gf - who's enjoying the show, but she did say if it wasnt for me she wouldnt have been watching this due to absolute burn out from a decade of the Walking Dead. She felt it was too soon for a show like this to come out after the slow and agonising death of TWD - I actually think shes got a point.

 

I was raging the walking dead ended however I'm a proper zombie fan and can't get enough. Can't wait for all the spin offs tbh.

 

Haha - she's booted your right in the baws there! Although the early seasons were phenominal, they did rip the * out of it.

Whats the next spin off? Negan and Maggie? Daryl and Carol? Cant keep up with it ha

 

Enjoyed that. Bit short mind you but still good.

The actress playing Ellie’s mum looked so much like her. Actually thought it was Ellie at first with some jiggery pokery to make her look older.

 

Still think the series itself was rushed. The first game didn’t need to be the entire first series.

Could of had another big clicker or bloater moment at some point.

All in all though, excellent.

Cracking show though. Can’t wait for 2.

 

Could have explored Ellie’s mental state a bit more and made Joel work a bit harder at the end. He’s no the terminator ffs.

Deffo had another episode in it.

 

Really enjoyed it overall. By a mile the best video game adaptation.

But aye, it was majorly rushed. Could easily have had another 3 episodes to build the relationship between Joel and Ellie further. I'm glad they never went all out with the infected and clickers...but I do think they could have had a couple more of the latter. Particularly during the winter section.

 

Was a good finale but agree it felt rushed, could be said for the whole season really.
I will say I've been watching scenes from game recently and troy bakers performance as joel kinda makes Pedro's seem very flat, and they changed how some scenes happened in the last episode and to me it wasn't for the better ie the 'I ain't got time for this' scene was done way better in the game, same with the interrogation scene in the previous episode.

Good first season but didn't quite finish as strong as it started.

 

Thought the last episode was disappointing. It wasn't terrible but quite flat compared with earlier on. Looking forward to the second series. Is the young actress that plays Ellie not going to be in it from now?

 

Pish.

 

She plays Ellie in the game so how she sounded while running etc brought me back to the game.

 

Agree overall.

Frustrating as there seemed to be so much filler in this season. I don’t think we needed an entire episode devoted to that gay couple or watching Elle running around a shopping centre. They should’ve used that time to deepen the relationship between Elle and Joel, imo.

 

That's was one of my favourite episodes and was gutted they didn't expand on that,

Which one?

I think they were both enjoyable episodes, but not at expense of the final episode feeling rushed.

That's me done with S1 and there has been no change in my opinion. The best episode was the penultimate one, but even then it felt pretty rushed at times.
