Kyogo Furuhashi

Kyogo reminds me a lot of Craig Bellamy when he was with us. It's the movement and runs off the ball, we have had some cracker strikers and he looks like he could be right up there. He sets the tempo for us. If he stays fit I am going to put my neck on the line- we win the league.

Just realised that Ange managed him as well. We probably could have got him in the summer but Ange being a man of morals probably didn't want to poach him halfway through their season after just leaving himself.

The J League finishes in December so a January transfer would be * lovely!

Hopefully we do could be doing with a couple of more attacking players with the sort of work rate and intelligence that top Japanese players seem to possess.

As others have said Maeda should be a no brainier given he played with Ange’s old team. There’s a couple of others that would also be cracking additions at a decent price.

No longer playing in the J League but in Holland for a poor PEC Zwolle, Yuta Nakayama would be a good signing I think. Is comfortable at left back or holding midfield. I think he would thrive in a better, more offensive team and is a regular in the Japan NT squads. His deal is also up in the summer.

 

That's exactly what I'm saying. If we go your way that means the club is in a state of permanent flux every close season and having to cobble together a team for CL / Europa qualifiers.

Not if we were run properly and planned ahead.

Signing players for £4/5 million and selling them for 3 or 4 times that in a couple of years time is exactly how we should be operating.

 

I have zero care for who buys our players off us, so long as they pay the money and the player in turn goes on to prove his worth. In turn that makes clubs want to come back to us as we build that reputation of being able to develop talent.

As for Kyogo himself, 2 years here and move on, I will be happy with that - I'd be more happy if he stayed for 4 years and signed a new deal in the middle of it, but we all need to be realistic here, the vast majority of players bought in to the club are not fans of our club and will be using it as a stepping stone.

Which is further reason we should be doing better with our own youth, because we need to be a club that is actively developing our own talent which may be likely to stay for a much longer term. Even if they do move on eventually, we would hopefully be getting good years out of a youth player from 18/19 years of age through to 25, when again, who cares where they get sold to, so long as they pay us the fair rate and the player goes on to do well after us.

But for guys like Kyogo (again), they aren't here for some dream or fantasy, they are footballers. 2-3 seasons is the whack, ideally they have a couple years left on their deal and they go for big bucks. Or you end up with an Edouard and Ajer situation.
