Have no issue with anything he said.

Despite knowing it was his last season, he gave absolutely everything to the team when others like Christie could barely be arsed.

Hope he does well in his career.

Focus now is getting a decent fee for him.

 

We as a club and fan base need to recognise when to release players at the right time. The fact remains that playing in the SPFL starts to hinder some players from reaching there potential. And it’s no surprise that non Scots want to experience other leagues and test themselves elsewhere. That’s no dig on Celtic, that’s just the way it is. We keep players for too long imo. End up not getting a fair price either. Teams like Porto, Lyon have made fortunes when selling at the peak as we tend to sell on the dip and take what we can get. Mismanagement from the board and a hard to please support is a difficult combo. Dembele was a perfect scenario for me. 2 brilliant years, cash in and replace with Edouard. Even Frimpong, cash in and move on. I completely understand where Ajer is coming from and I wish him well.

 

Boyata is another. Could have sold him for millions, but because our joke of a recruitment team didn't have a replacement lined up, we turned down the offer and lost him for free a year later.

 

There is a serious skillset to buying & selling players, timing is critical !
You can have the best manager in the world but without quality people behind the scenes a club is doomed to fail.
Brentford is probably one of the best examples around, they have sold their best players for top money & replaced them quite cheaply year after year.
Celtic management obviously know that top players are likely to want to move to better leagues & should be prepared for it.
Managers get all the attention but a quality DOF is probably the most important individual at any club !

 

LEVERKUSEN INTERESTED IN AJER

Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.

Sky Germany understands the clubs are in talks over a potential deal for the Norwegian international.

Ajer, who has a year left on his contract, said last week: “It is probably for the best that something should happen this year.”

He has been with the club since 2016 and after a loan spell at Kilmarnock in 2016-17, signed a new for year deal with the Hoops in 2018.

Sky Italy confirmed last week that AC Milan ended their long-standing interest in the Norwegian to pursue Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori.

I think we get it right more than we get it wrong.

This season was an exception I think because we were going for the ten and they thought it was worth the drop in value.

I'm sure Boyata was Rodgers choice to keep?

 

He goes with my blessings he's been a great servent to the club and gave his all thats all i could ask from him

 

They need to get the finger out and get him and edouard punted by the end of next week we can’t be fannying about keeping these two till August when they’ll be providing the funds to build a new team that needs to be playing games in 4 weeks

 

I’d be hoping for closer to £15 but I’d take £10 with a huge sell on fee

 

I'd be trying for £12 million with a sell on fee, think we're right to reject those offers atm.

 

Crazy to think they gave more for frimpong who whilst might have a longer contract, isn’t anywhere near as good or experienced.

 

Ajer deserves his move..

 

12 million with a 25% sell on fee.

Year left on his deal and that 25% would sweeten the deal for me.

 

He does, but I think the club are right to try and get as much as possible for him.

If both Norwich and Leverkusen have bid £10 million, then one or the other can up it by another 1 - 2 million, and a decent sell on fee.

 

I think he does deserve his move in fairness and right now would be the right time for him and the club. He gave his all for us this season while others didn’t look bothered. He is still our player and contracted to us though… Celtic are right to reject sub-par offers

 

Depends on how it’s structured as well. We need the cash in, having it that we’re still recieving cash 3/4 years down the line is useless.

 

I agree, could be part of the reason we rejected the bids as well.

 

We can do better than 10 mill..

12+ with a decent sell on and that would be fair..

 

Yeah mate but look what happened with Ntcham, we let 14 million walk out the door.. Christie gonna walk for a small fee.. Edouard again last year of contract and we won't get full value..

My point is I guess if we are gonna play hard ball with fees we need to do it better..

Ajer could well run his contract down, we are not in a strong position on this. 10 million is not that bad now.. I reckon anyway
