I agree with Lenny playing him, would rather a half fit Ajer than a fully fit Duffy any day.

For sure, looking like big CJ will be back soon-and we can send Duffy back to Brighton.

Hope your right because we really need a fully fit Ajer and Jullien back as soon as possible.

Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. He has been a massive loss especially in the big games we have played since he was out.

Need arguably, two new cb's in.

One to replace Duffy, the other to allow Ajer to take over the role of brown.

He's more forward playing than Brown, just as agile and deceptively quick enough to cover ground.

He could be a game changer between defence and midfield the way that Rogic is the difference between midfield and attack.

Ajer has been a CB for years now, club and country, forget the notion of Ajer as DM.

I've been suggesting this for a while. Chances are he'll be away next season however. We should definitely be looking for another ball player at the back though in the meantime. Great to have plenty of height in the team.

LARS LAGERBACK says he hasn't given up hope of Kristoffer Ajer playing some part of Norway's triple header.

The Celtic defender has been named in their 25-man squad for the matches against Israel, Romania and Austria despite being forced off in the 4-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday.

The big stopper was also taken off in the 2-2 draw with Lille in the Europa League last month and missed the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen and the European defeat to Sparta Prague at Parkhead.

He returned to the starting line-up at Fir Park but had to be replaced with 12 minutes remaining.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon admitted the 22-year-old had suffered a recurrence of the groin injury which say Shane Duffy take his place late on.

Talking after the Well win, Lennon said: “He felt it at half-time and battled on with it, but he couldn’t continue. He will be a doubt for Norway, I would imagine."

International gaffer Lagerback says he has spoken to the stopper on the phone but is hopeful he can play some part of the upcoming matches.

Speaking to VG, he said: "We do not know for sure. We have only had audio contact so far.

We do not know how serious it is. He is not completely negative himself, but could not play a game today at least."

Ajer is expected to be ruled of the visit of Israel but could play some part of Sunday's meeting with Romania.

Absolutely!!! This boy is never a midfield player in a month of Sundays. He needs to concentrate on getting better at defending, tackling, heading and positionally. He’s been better of late so hopefully he continues.

Keep seeing folk wanting Ajer as a midfielder. I think some of this most noticeably good play this season has been his bringing the ball out of defence and starting our attacks, but I'm not sure this constitutes that he should be moved forward permanently.

Main thing I want him to improve on is his strength in the air, but I think he should be remaining at the back. I don't think he's as exposed with Julien along side him, but for such a big guy he should be better with crosses into the box.

Agree we need two CBs in probably someone ready to go and a good prospect.

Ajer isn’t going to be here much longer, he will be gone in the next two windows so the ready player will replace him and the prospect will offer cover for him and Julien.

The Duffy experiment has turned out a disaster so far so he doesn’t look part of the long term solution.

We won’t play Ajer as CDM whether it would be good or not I just can’t see it happening and as mentioned above he isn’t a long term solution. We badly need a proper CDM in to offer protection to the defence as well as the two CBS.

It’s crazy to think but no wonder our defensive unit is a shambles likely 3 or 4 of the current 5 players may need replaced soon. We have two options at RB one who is fairy solid but has had injury issues and another who is great offensively but suspect defensively.

We had a reasonable partnership last year in CJ and Ajer, Ajer is going to move on so there is a gap there.

Left back is currently occupied by a short term stock gap in Laxalt, who is a good player who is unlikely to stay long term. Our own options aren’t good enough.

We have a 35 year old club legend whose years have caught up with him at CDM and a manager reluctant to try anyone else in that role.

Norway v Israel cancelled due to covid in the Israel team. Not sure how it works if someone has already had it, could they carry it again?

If there was anything in the rumoured Liverpool interest we will probably find out in January as they are totally screwed for centre backs now.

Regardless, we need to line up a few center backs for next transfer window.
