I dont think his size is the reason hes not played there.

Patrick Veira was potentially the best in the world at that position and he was similar size

Vieira could turn quickly though, Ajer doesn't have that ability to turn side to side quickly enough, he has put on mass since becoming a CB

I thought he was poor for there 2nd. Didn't get close enough to Cosgrove at all.

KRIS AJER insists Celtic’s defenders shouldn’t be taking the blame for the team’s poor results.

Neil Lennon slammed his stoppers after Celtics 3-3 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Shane Duffy had another unimpressive performance at the back and Hoops boss Lenny is furious with the way they’re conceding goals this season.

But Ajer insists there’s no blame game in the dressing room, despite the champs chucking away two points to the Dons in stoppage time.

And he revealed that Celtic win together — and suffer together when things aren’t going to plan.

He said: “We attack as a team and we defend as a team. It’s easy for people to single out players but this is a team and it works both ways.

“We scored three goals collectively and conceded three at the other end, including two penalties. It’s all a collective.

Lennon reckons he has players in his team Who are struggling for confidence.

New signing Duffy probably comes into that category having struggled to adapt to life at Celtic since his arrival on loan from Brighton.

The lifelong Hoops supporter has had a nightmare few weeks.

But Ajer insists confidence is NOT an issue within the team — certainly not with him anyway.

He added: “I feel really confident. This is a squad full of winners who are not happy when we don’t get three points.

Obviously we want to get back to winning games and hopefully we will soon

Agreed. He has been easily our best player in this * run since that international break * us. If this lad is someone who wants away he is going about it the right way. He cares as his reaction to the second Aberdeen goal shows. Obviously I want our best players to stay but I also understand more often then not that will not happen. Ajer's character and attitude is first class. I always say you really find out about players when things are tough and credit to Ajer as he has been excellent and he gives me hope that we can find our way through this.

The last guy in the side that we could afford to lose to injury. A huge loss.

Can’t afford for him to be out for long. Been our best defender by a country mile this season.

NL on Ajer: "He felt his groin go so it’s not great by the looks of things. We’ll need to see how long he’s out for but he looks a doubt for Sunday."

Again depends on the severity. If it's the part connected to the abductor then it will be 6 weeks. Going by his impression on the side line when walking off it looks to be at least a few weeks out

Him and Lax our 2 most important players at the moment, will be a massive loss. Just hope big CJ or ElHam are on the mend.
