Depends if we can get him to agree to stay here beyond this season. I wouldn't be in business with him if he is requesting 3 years, nor do I expect any club would be.

I've been saying sell him for a while now, but I think he still has something to offer. Commons at his best can pull strings like no one else in Scotland. Who are we going to replace him with?

    Stefan Johansen :50:

I've always been a huge fan of Commons but I don't think we're missing him. Maybe it's time to move on? I'd love him to stay but I can't see him being a starter under Deila.

Over rated , unfit , overweight , can't pass , can't run , can't beat a man ! Doesn't fit in out philosophy anymore because he has to some work instead of wait for the ball to get to him !

But he can score a goal out of nothing. He's the type of player that can play awful and still score a couple of goals. For someone so unfit and overweight, his career in the hoops have been highly successful. Very experienced and intelligent player.

Johansen isn't a goal machine like Commons though, he's more of a technical player in the same way that Ledley was for us.

He's unlike both players if you ask me, but plays in the same area of the pitch as Commons did for us. He's similar to Ledley in that he's a tireless worker, but his passing in the final third is much better than Ledley's. They're very different players really.

In the new system, Commons wasn't exactly firing all cylinders either to be fair, and since Johasnen has been moved into the same role, he has been our best player. Commons might have scored a lot in Lennon's formation, but I don't think he would get anywhere near that total in Deila's formation. Johansen's energy and passing ability outweighs what Commons was offering in this system.

I'd rather keep him. Even when we were playing * at the start of the season he was getting goals.

He wasn't always playing that role under Lenny though was he? Might not get 32 goals but I'd trust him to hit 20 a season if he's playing the majority of games. Whether thats from the wing like we've saw him pay before, behind the striker or up front itself like he was at times last year.

There's no dilemma in Kris Commons for me, we all know what he can do. What's the point of trying to get that out of your team? Get rid of Berget, Boerrigter and * like that before a midfielder who has consistently been one of your top scorers and most creative players.

He's been injured and not exactly top form this season, still one of our top scorers and top assisters. If we get him on a new contract that won't change throughout the season. He'll play his part, even if it's not from his best position as an attacking midfielder.

In the end, he played behind the striker every single week under Lennon. Last season, I don't recall him ever playing as a winger. That might well have been down to legs.

Right now, I don't see where he fits into the team. Of course I would get rid of guys like Berget & Boerrigter before him, I think anyone would to be honest. However, if a bid come in for Commons in January, and he left, I wouldn't be losing any sleep. Last season on the other hand, it would have been a disaster to lose him, as he was vital for us. The only position I could see Commons playing for us now, is in the number 10 role, but over Johansen, absolutely no chance. I don't think Deila rates Commons all that much either, or he just doesn't think he is the type of player for this formation.

Better players than Commons have not suited or failed to adapt to new tactics at teams. I think his time is coming to an end here if I'm honest.

Hope we can get him to stay, even if he is not going to be a regular he can still offer plenty to the team and Club. Its not that long ago he retired from International football to concentrate on Celtic.

Exactly. Nothing short of disgraceful seeing a bunch of fans denigrate a player who has given so much for us.

Fair enough if people would rather he was moved on. "Hey (as Gordon Dalzeil would say) it's all about opinions" (*) but to actively castigate the man is unfortunately what the internet does to some of us.

    I'm not picky.
32 goals and 16 assists last season across all competitions. This season obviously not as much play time due injury and to Johansen excelling in that role, but still has 5 goals and 3 assists. Not bad for someone who's "unfit, overweight, can't pass, can't run, can't beat a man".

I've always felt he was a bit of a passenger. We could afford to play him in the league because we're that much better than everyone else.

He's one of those players who can make something out of nothing and did on many occasions. I can't remember who it was against last year but he was the worst player on the park, but managed to score a hat trick.

I think the time is now right to let him go, he doesn't seem to be in Ronnys plans at all and Johansen is a different player playing just behind the striker.
