I was going to mention that exact save for Forster btw. I was astonished when he saved that, I still don’t fully grasp how he managed it. It was pinpoint, it was powerful, players blocking the view and he got to it. Forsters the best I’ve seen for us, Boruc at his very best maybe slightly ahead but that very best wasn’t consistent his full time here and he could make a mistake.

But those two and what they done, it’s the biggest reasons that when they were here we made it past the CL group stage 3 times.

Boruc made a save at Old Trafford, against a Paul Telfer header, thats one of the best I’ve ever seen from any keeper. They two aren’t the benchmark for me, it’s like using Larsson as the benchmark the opposite end of the pitch. We’ve not had better than them.


Your rating of Schmiechal is round where I am but I’d add in better concentration for shot stopping than Gordon and the leadership and experience of Joe Hart. He’s been a revelation so far for me

 

OK, I can agree with all of that.

 

La Gran Muralla was just another level for us imo. Incredible.

Gutted for him that he didn't keep up his record. Had some shaky moments, but unlucky with the penalty.

Was shouting when he lobbed it over Valle's head and out the park, when we just had to keep the ball late on.

 

Me too, was a dreadful effort.

 

I thought when they showed the "still" of the penalty when he was off his line the ball had already left the takers foot

 

Nah, think he was well off mate.

 

Aye well off and just must've gotten lost in the moment. Did well to save it. No chance with the second penalty though.

 

His face of innocence after the first penalty was brilliant.

 

Think he was expecting a blast down the middle

 

I said the exact same thing to the missus. He's going down the middle second time 100%..

Unlucky with the first as the guy stuttered the run up..

Dealt with everything else well..

 

Imagine if Hart had played that ball straight out of play on 93 minutes!! We’d all be screaming for a goalie that could play with his feet, and not put us under pressure with such a shot clearance.

 

When Clancy is telling him to stay on the line just before the retake, does he say.. '*, orange *'

 

Fair to say he’s been a lot busier last 2 games. Made some great saves too. Dinking it out to Valle late on over his head was his only black mark yesterday.

Having a good game tonight against Spain.. made himself big a few times when a players got through.
