CELTIC KEEN ON JURANOVIC

Celtic are keen on Croatia’s Josip Juranovic. The 25-year-old is potentially available from Legia Warsaw this summer and the Hoops have put him on their list of potential options for a new right-back.

Sky Sports News has already reported their interested in Manchester City youngster Yan Couto on loan, but they face competition for his services from clubs in Portugal.

Juranovic is another option they are looking into and he was part of Croatia’s squad at the European Championships, starting against Scotland and Spain.

Fiorentina in Italy and Spartak Moscow in Russia have also shown an interest in Juranovic, who has 10 caps for Croatia in total so far in his career.

He signed for Legia from Hajduk Split just last summer and has two years remaining on his contract, plus an option of one more.

 

Probably the ideal kind of player for us to buy, therefore... Déjà vu! They'll expect proper money for a guy well under contract, so we'll huff, and puff, and then slink off!

 

There's no way we'll sign this guy and Buta, both will be coming with the expectation to start every game.

 

Unlike Lovrić, who is good, but we don't need him, Juranović is good, and we do need him. The Croatian NT was much more concrete in attack when he played instead of Vrsaljko. He crossed without hesitation, and did not look as awful in defense as was predicted.

 

Well there’s absolutely no doubt we need 2 right backs

 

Based on pretty much nothing I’d prefer him to Buta

 

Could he and Buta be played together? Him as RCB?

Edit: I mean, Ange wants the CB and fullbacks to be interchangeable, doesn't he?

 

I’d imagine him & Buta would be coming here to play. Not with intentions of sitting on the bench.

He's the wee guy in the middle, so I severely doubt it.

 

We absolutely need two right backs.. doubt we will get them, mon Celtic prove me wrong..

Ralston is not good enough for Celtic in any role..

 

Has Tony Joseph had his say yet considering this link has came from Sky Sports.

 

As far as I’m aware, Tony Joseph is still off sick after his bout of covid, though I see he’s commented here and there on social media so I’d be surprised if he doesn’t chime in on this.

I do get the feeling this is Sky hearing a right back might be available and just throwing our name in there to make a story. That said though, I was impressed by Jovanović at the Euros and would be happy to have him on board.

 

I thought he had recovered mate as I noticed he was back on his socials , think that was last week. But as you say perhaps he was just commenting on small matters. When the initial story broke I laughed it of as nonsense to begin with mainly down to the fact an hour or so beforehand We had been lead to believe the Buta deal was all but done & I’ve bought into that albeit I’ve not seen anything concrete. I can’t say I seen a lot of him at the Euros personally and I can’t remember him being a stand out against scotland but he’s definitely highly rated and had a couple of caps for Croatia so I don’t think he would be anyone’s Mug , can’t see a player of his calibre coming and playing second Fiddle vice versa with Aurelio Buta. If one of them are coming in then you’ve got to think straight into the first team with a cheaper option as back up.

 

I don’t follow him on Twitter but from memory he had Tweeted saying he wasn’t back at work yet but was breaking a story anyway. That said, I was on holiday last week and rarely sober so may be talking nonsense

Totally agree with you. I’d imagine it will be one first team ready starter, plus one project type as a backup. Juranović or Buta, plus Couto from City could be ideal.
