    Shut it, ya Cavan mongrel!

Will give him time to prove me wrong but at the moment I'll confess myself underwhelmed with this signing.

Beautiful Sunday - the IRA version
I reckon if we had made this signing at the end of the window, having already signed Roberts and some promising others, then the reaction would be much more positive.

This isn't a bad signing at all. Hayes is a very useful player to have in the squad - he can play on both wings and at LB, has a bit of aggression about him, has a decent shot and can put in a dangerous cross.

Of all the players in the squad, the one who will be most thankful for Hayes' signing, will probably be Scott Sinclair. We're so deficient in Sinclair's position that an enormous burden is being placed on him to play in nearly every game, we're quite lucky that this season he's been completely injury and fatigue free. However, if we're to progress in Europe then we need to be able to rest him in more of our domestic games. Hayes will slot in nicely enough where Sinclair needs a rest and we need a bit more dig.

It's exactly this ,it keeps the terrorising at maximum when our attack is tiring ,I feel he will do better than most expect on here ,he is a very capable player ,and the only problem is he is a low key signing when everyone is expecting to see 10 million pound players, let's just calm down a wee bit and see wot happens .

    Not confirmed, is it?

As I said the other day, I'd be happy with this. He is comfortable on either side, which none of our other wingers really are, and he's been excellent for the past few years. He's quick and is a goal threat, and it's very important to Rodgers that we have players in the front three who can set the tone with their pressing - Hayes does that.

I don't think he's a starter, but another terrific option to have at a good price. Plus, it is always nice to have Scottish/Irish players around the squad (if they're good enough, obviously).

    Is he a Celtic supporter?

Feels like we are sending a squad player out on loan in order to buy a squad player. I think we need to strengthen the squad but I think Christie can do that. I sense Hayes will provide cover and little else. That said he is cheap, his salary will be cheap, and he has proven himself more than good enough for the Scottish league.

The signing doesnt excite me at all but of course I know absolutely nothing and I put my absolute faith in Rodgers.

I think he will be a good addition for us, he is a known quantity who we can throw on as an impact sub, throw him on for the grinders or even just to have him around for some competition for Sinclair and Forrest who already know he has a good bit about him. The nucleus of the first team is young, and Brendan likes to have some experience around as well for an extra bit of maturity which is always welcome when we have to dig in to get through some difficult away fixtures etc.

People are entitled to their opinion, but I'll be happy if he signs. He's done well at Aberdeen and if BR thinks he can do a job for us then that's more than good enough for me. Welcome Johnny Hayes.
