Yeah, John Park's been responsible for all sorts of Celtic signings, especially youth talent. Misun for example he banged on about for over a year until the club signed him.

He is one of the best scouts in british football, and if we lose him it will be a major blow to the club imo. :38:

Yip, Lennon was waxing lyrical about Park at one of those supporters roadshows, said that Park is usually first one in at Lennoxtown and last one out, when he's in at Lennoxtown he's constantly watching DVD's of games from around the globe. Lennon also gave the example of him being on a flight in the very early hours of the morning so he could be over in Barcelona in time to watch the Barcelona B team play.

I don't think some appreciate the amount of work the guy does for the club, we would be hard pushed to find someone to perform the role as well as he does.

    Mirror Football. LOL.

This is a guy that planted the seed that made Scott Brown worth 4.5 million quid, a feat only ever equalled when the Lord himself turned water into wine.

    He is a miracle worker.

John Park does a lot for the club. He goes all over the globe looking for talent, he was at the under19s World Cup in Canada a few years ago taking in games every day all over the country and at the same time he was wrapping up deals for Donati and others.

Why is it people always seem to change clubs whenever the opportunity arises even when it's blatantly a massive step down? Is it just so they can try something new?? Hopefully this isn't true

John Parks good at his job but we have a ready made replacement in Davie Hay (if he's up for it) if he goes.

    Think this is bollocks tbh.

He has been responsible for all Hibs youth going through the ranks.

John Park is a very good scout, gets a bit of bad press because Gordon Strachan never trusted him and stuck to Match of the Day signings.

But Mowbray and Lennon do. He is responsible for the likes of McGinn, Misun, Rogne, Twardzik twins etc coming through the ranks.

Our youth look very promising and if anything comes to it it's through John Park.

I still think Davie Hay is his equal though. Possibly better.

Were McGinn, Misun and the Twardzik twins not signed under Strachan?

Was sure both McGinn and Misun were actually signed by Strachan (as apose to youth team coaches etc.) after a trail for each of them.

I'd find a spot for Davie Hay either way but I would 100% not want to lose John Park.

We're building something with our youth development team, why start taking it apart?

No. Misun in particular was totally Park's doing. He kept on at the club month after month to get him - this starts more than a year before the guy was finally signed with Strachan's agreement.

In any case, scouts, as far as I'm aware, have no authority to "sign" players themselves. That's not their role.

You could have picked a few worse ones than that considering Braafheid played in a World Cup final a month later, Fortune was playing well on the right wing and Hooiveld may very well still be a first pick centre half.

I'd have went with Fox and N'Guemo personally.

Personally thought if we played Fortune as a forward playing wide man in a 3 up front he would have been fantastic...he just wasn't the goalscoring CF that we needed at the time and the fans hated him for it.

As for Hooiveld, Hes been injured most of the time and we've kept clean sheats in every league game hes completed. He really needs a chance before for start slating him.
