CELTIC are considering a £1.5million summer move for John McGinn.

The Scottish cap is a player Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers rates highly.

The midfielder, 22, has just come off a successful season where he has helped Hibs return to the Premiership as winners of the Championship.

McGinn still has two years left on his contract but there is also strong interest from English clubs, including Sunderland. Rodgers is aware of potential English competition and is weighing up whether to make a quickfire bid.

The Hoops will offload several fringe players like Kris Commons and Scott Allan in the summer.

Hibs are keen to get McGinn to sign a new contract but have fallen short in their efforts so far.

Really like him but I'm not sure he'd get a game in our current midfield

I like him but if he was to sign then we'd be looking at...

Brown, Armstrong, Rogic, McGinn, McGregor, Eboue, Bitton and Henderson. Now I'd imagine Bitton and Henderson will be offski in the summer which would leave us with 6 midfielders...and hasn't Rodgers said he wants another number 10?

    Can't see it personally.

I think he'd be better off staying at Hibs for one more season.

Don't think he is an improvement on anything we have at the moment I have him in the same bracket as henderson, just a bit more experienced and he isn't good enough to get a chance in our team so a no for me needing a higher class player for Europe

I think he's a good player, but i don't see him disrupting any of our current midfield, especially with eboue as a backup.

No doubt in my mind if we don't sign him now , he will go to England and be out of our price range in a year or two. Boy is a fantastic player.

    Unsure.

Wanted him in the past but the last few times I've seen him he's looked less impressive. I'd give them £1m and no more.

He has a few things going for him, least of all the fact he is a Tim, which, always helps. He does have the energy and tenacity Rodgers would look for though and you only need to look at the impact the gaffer has had on Armstrong and McGregor.

He also said this about McGinn after watching him in the Edinburgh derby a few months back:

....So you could very easily see him sanctioning this. If there is one player in Scotland who could have the potential to be a star for us it is him. No-one else.

Brown, Armstrong, McGregor, Eboue and McGinn for the central roles with Rogic + New 'blue chip' signing for the 10(8 in Europe).

Biton sold, Henderson loaned for one last chance to impress at a higher level (England) or sold.

No, if Rodgers wants to take celtic to the next level we need to be buying better players than him.

If Rodgers really does want him, I say yes. I don't see enough of him to make a real judgement on him. Seems to be rated by most who talk about him.

Do you think Armstrong is part of us taking a step up be it in Champions League or more realistically the Europa League? I think with Brendan Being a great one to one manager and the fact he rates McGinn he probably thinks himself he can make McGinn take the step up which will benefit us.... Who knows anyway will just need to wait and see if he does go for him.

Not good enough, don't understand the obsession with him. He's no better than Henderson or mcgregor and I don't think is the type of player we should be signing if we want to move forward. Happy to be proven wrong

I'd let boy develop at Hibs for another ywar or 2. Crucial for him to continue playing regularly at 22, if he keeps developing then we'll get him for £2.5m max when hes 24.

I like McGinn, good player and under Brendan's supervision he could be developed further, hopefully to the same impact/level as Stu Armstrong. If Brendan wants the player and rates him then I trust Brendan implicitly.
