A good point and a far more positive way of looking at it than my own :50: If Schlupp does arrive and is as successful as those you listed, we’ll be alright.

Apparantly McGowan has said we've enquired, alongside the original link.

I get that he can play at LB.

But why can't we just sign an actual LB:giggle1:. From looking at it, he hasn't played there since his time at Leicester 7 years ago.

He'd bring some good attributes as I said. It's just a bit like we are struggling a bit to really fill this position.

At this stage I'd take him though. But feel like I shouldn't have to be saying that.

There’s an assumption being made he’s the left back option we need. I’m not so sure that’s what he’d be targeted for. If true.

    I’d take him.

I’m desperate, I’d take anycunt with a pulse.

    Bring him home.

Provided he passes the medical and proves he has said pulse of course. I’m not a complete *.

If he's in to strengthen the squad as a versatile option then that's much better.

Tierney is a massive risk. His injuries are only gonna get worse.

    Wouldn't wages be an issue?

Thing is, he's already that at Crystal Palace, wouldn't make much sense for him to leave them and come to us on reduced wages to play the exact same role.

He's not starting ahead of O'Riley and Hatate in midfield (He won't be O'Rileys repalcement) and he won't start over Maeda at LW, so I can only really see him coming to us if he's guaranteed to be first choice, and that singles out LB.

Don't get me wrong, if we bring in Schlupp and a LB alongside him, I would be very pleasantly surprised, but I'd be shocked.

I’ve liked him when I’ve seen him before, but he’s getting older and I’m not familiar with whether he’s regressed of late.

I'd take him as a utility player at this point, given how the window has gone.

No, he isn’t. Came through at Leicester as a LB. The majority of the time that he’s played LM for Palace, it’s been in a block of 5 in a 3-5-2, so effectively that is LWB.

Nah, he usually keeps wide and overlaps when he’s at LB/LWB for Palace.

Yeah I think looking back over last 3 years both Ange and Rodgers would prefer to do it this way.

Looking between the lines I think there's issues between Ange and Rodgers and those running the club in terms of the profile of our signings. Given the recruitment team have been appointed by the board and let's just say had very close links to them it's understandable the managers would rather not deal with them or want the board to appoint another stooge.

And like you say at least doing it this way there's far better chance of the people we sign actually playing a part in the team

Think he would be a decent signing for us, none of this project pish. I know he would not be that marquee signing but like his versatility and has much needed physicality.

Aye that's how I remember him playing, like an attacking wingback.

He’s very fast and athletic and a good player. Wouldn’t be against this. I’d think he would be signed primarily as a left back.
