People saying he'll be used as a squad rotation or as back up, if we're spending what is being reported, he should be starting most games.

£5m on a 19 year old would be some statement.

Made his debut last season and went on to play 37 league games. Must be something special about him if we are making a £5M bid on a 19 year old. If the club deems him worth that, I'm all for it.

Only reason I can see why the fee is the strategy if he comes good and English clubs cone sniffing we can ask for a lot of money especially if he's nearly in the French national team by that Time

One of the red tops now saying Celtic have denied a formal bid has been made, but there is interest.

So * knows. Just good to see some rumours.

The more I read about this guy, the more I like the sound of it. Lens fans seem to love him.

Couple years ago a few folk made a good point about our transfer policy and where the next logical step should be. This could be it.

The theory/opinion is that in years gone by we have plucked unheard of gems for the 1-3 million range. Once that model is a success, we start to take the next step up.
So the 1-3 million players become 10-12million sales.
Once we crack that and make the profit we then invest in the next level, the 5million player that has a bit more about them, perhaps closer to the finished article or players likely to develop even more.
So we buy this guy at 5million and in 2 years sell fot 20 million.
Do that successfully over a few years, like we did with forster, virgil, wanayama. Then perhaps we move up and take more risks at the 8 million rated player.

This could be the first step in to that bracket.

Heck, eboue could be argued to be thst step, wasnt he a 3million purchase?

Scottish Sun saying we are denying we have made a bid but he is one of 15 on Celts target list.

True, although his fee was £3m. Can you name any other? Can you name any one else who cost us more than £3m that didn't feature heavily?

Eboue is new to the country/culture and was messed up due to being in between Russian seasons.

I get your point though. I would've expected to see more of Eboue.

Wouldn't surprise me if we shed Eboue over the summer.

Tbf to you, I thought we might have seen more of him too.

I think no matter how Brendan down played it tho, he wanted to go down in history as an Invincible, treble winning manager. And didn't want to gamble on the youngster.

If we had a lost a league game we would have seen imo. Plenty of time for the bhoy tho.

Eboue was only in Russia for around 6 months as well so the guy has been right across Europe in the space of a year. Having Kolo here will have helped him settle.

I'm counting him as a new signing.
