    That's not what happened in the last window though is it?

    Last January? Yes, however we don't know what was going on behind the scenes as the club may have knew that Rodgers was for the off by the summer.

    The hysteria in here during a window is more predictable. Guys like wanyama, frimpong, el hamed and Griffiths all came in either under the radar or disdain. Guys like musonda and Robert's the 2nd time arrived like the 2nd coming and flattered to deceive.

    We all want deals done early, however there are so many variables outwith the clubs control.

    Agents holding out to the end of the window.
    Clubs wanting replacements first.
    Clubs unwilling to sell and takes player pressure to push through at the end. (Dembele leaving us).

    The market opens up as the window progresses which is why deadline day is so busy.

    No point moaning throughout the window that nothing will happen then the day after the window closes deciding it was a good one like happened in the summer.

    No one knows what will happen but it's like some people can't wait to have a go at the board. Be pessimistic all window just in the hope they can say told you so at the end. Baffling mentality.

    And there is always sections of the support that will always give the benefit of the doubt.

    Clearly there have been some decent signings thought the years, or we wouldn't have the squad we have right now.

    But we all know that we should be doing more and can do more. Bringing in a bit of actual proven experience. Not exciting youth or under the radar or to disdain.

    Jan venegor of hessilink was the last one I remember actually getting excited about because we actually signed someone with proven quality.

    Well... Was Tommy G before or after him? Think before.

    Theres not enough variation or physicality in our play. The links to Glenn Murray arent exactly inspiring but I do feel we need a striker like him. If a little bit younger.

    2 strikers is a requirement so him along with Sporar I wouldnt grumble too much but I do feel that a younger target man would be better.

    Edouard, Sporar, Griffiths and XX. Bayo out on loan. To be honest even Griffiths isnt safe.

    I know this won't be popular but I wonder if Cosgrove would be worth a punt - good in the air, not bad on the deck and holds the ball up well. Would give us a different option. Good age at 23 and proven scorer in SPL. Has scored 20 in 25 competitive games this season. As I say this will probably be met with derision but if you look back there were plenty unhappy when we signed Griffiths and even Broony. Aberdeen probably wouldn't sell anyway.

    Cosgrove isn’t good enough. A Nadir Ciftci type signing.

    Obviously you could be right. It's always a bit of a punt with these players but you can never be sure. We've bought other strikers from SPL clubs who have been successful - McClair, McDonald and Griffiths off the top of my head and there are players you think are proven quality who don't live up to expectations - Graveson and Juninho spring to mind. I wouldn't expect him to be our no 1 striker but he would offer an alternative and could be useful if we wanted to play with 2 up front. Anyway Aberdeen would no doubt ask for too much for him.

    I’d rather take shankland than Cosgrove. At 1mil pretty cheap option look at years gone by the banguras etc 2/3mil for duds. Picking up a wage for training never mind sitting on the bench all the dead wood needs to go Sinclair hendry kouassi Bayo if we find another striker or who ever is not going to get played get them out the door either on loans or permanent. Need to buy 1/2 players proven ones not anybody that’s going to come in as a work in progress need people that’s going to hit the ground running not players that’s going to be running to the dugout first to claim there favourite spot on the bench

    Almost identical stats from Ciftci the season before we signed him. Cosgrove scored slightly more but set up less.

    Ciftci 14/15;

    36 games 14 goals 8 assists

    Cosgrove this season;

    30 games 16 goals 3 assists

    Cosgrove has 20 goals and 1 assist in 26 games this season.

    Still wouldn't go near him, mind.

    That was last seasons stats.

    But aye, point stands, very similar target to Ciftci IMO. A guy that’ll shine for a short period in Scotland who isn’t very good in general.

    Ciftci's last game he was booked on 11 minutes....then sent off on 12. Got pumped 4-1 after that and hasn't scored in his 10 Turkish appearances this season :giggle1:

    No, it's this season - 20 in 26 competitive games. He scored 21 in 42 games last season.
