Mackem view on it. Some of the usual racist ,bigoted pish but tbf a lot are saying.

1 If they had to put up with the abuse he got yesterday they would have done the same and any * crying about it is a gobshite
    2. It's a non story and they are more bothered about the goal they conceded.

The most embarrassing part is the Sunderland fans getting outraged by McClean's reaction. They can give it but can't take it, typical.

Well its his right not to respect gstq, equally its their right to let him know what they think. The same applies for the sunderland situation.
I never heard nor saw the abuse other than what I have just read. Was the chanting about him being Irish ?

Wouldn't say chanting "* the IRA" is racist to be honest. It's more the double standards the gets me in this incidence.

If they were chanted * the IRA then I can only assume this was directed at him because he was Irish7

Well mate I Find it racist. They aimed their chants at MC Clean as an insult. MC Clean has never said he supports the IRA. Like chanting at a Muslim Player about IS or Taliban. No?

He would have not reacted like he did yesterday ( and he didn't do much) had he not being booed while playing for Sunderland and giving 100%( no Sunderland fan has ever disputed this).

Why did Sunderland fans boo him if it wasn't racist ?

Sunderland fans gave him abuse for 90 mins and also chanted 'Only one Adam Johnson' when he went on, good on him to celebrate in front of them. Many players have done it over the years it's only cause it's McLean the media run with it.

Are you saying they chanted about * Sunday ? Supporting them is a freedom we all have just as not supporting them is also a freedom people have , I just don't see how chanting '* whatever' is necessarily racist imo :50:

So because they chanted that you believe its racist then ? So is chanting * the uda racist as well ?

As I said other than what I have read I haven't seen or heard anything about it hence the reason I asked you if they chanted something about him being Irish ? Did they ?

I posted "If they were chanted * the IRA then I can only assume this was directed at him because he was Irish"
Do you not believe this to be true? Would they have chanted this to a Muslim player.

I never stated whether I felt it was racist or not.

I think most of McClean's comments and views over his 4 years in England would suggest that he'd almost certainly sympathise with the IRA. Given how he also posted links to pro-IRA songs on Twitter in the past. Considering all this it isn't terribly inconceivable that he might have some support towards the IRA. There was plenty of reasons for them to mention the IRA without it just being the fact that he's Irish. The REASON for it is because of all the poppy stuff and they're using his assumed support for the IRA as a stick to beat him with.

I'm sorry but if you're offended by that and see that as racist then you'd want to cop yourself on a bit.

The only thing that I found a bit stupid about the whole thing is the fact that the Sunderland fans reacted so badly to McClean celebrating in front of them at the end. What were they expecting?

Finding it racist means that you find it offensive does it not?

Ah well, I honestly don't care I'm passing it all off as a load of nothing. :56:

Oisin I would hold a lot of views that the actions MC Clean has taken would represent. My people have been slaughtered by the British army with cover ups by the governments. That said I am not pro IRA as I have seen people shot dead by them for as simple as an excuse as a family feud or disagreement. But you can't say that I can't be offended by the actions of these English fans!:50:

    That's why I asked.

I am not an expert on why he gets this level of abuse , although I haven't claimed to be either. IMO as I have said already, he is getting it for the gstq and the poppy thing , which is his right, just as its their right.
For me its not racist, anymore than if some * accused him of being racist against them for his beliefs.
