    SCOTLAND defender Jack Hendry is a shock target for Hamburg with his future at Ronny Deila's side Club Brugge looking bleak.

    The former Celtic stopper is under contract with the former Belgian champions until 2025 after they paid £3.5 million for the 28-year-old two years ago.



    Brendan Rodger’s signed him for the Hoops on deadline day on January 2018.

    Last season, he had an underwhelming loan spell in Italy with Cremonese and returned to the club for the second half of the campaign.

    But former Hoops boss Deila has indicated he wants new players in to strengthen his defence and reports in Belgium have suggested Bundesliga II favourites Hamburg have edged ahead of English Championship clubs in the battle to sign the former Dundeestopper, who has 23 caps.

    Fallen German giants Hamburg have now failed to win promotion back to the Bundesliga five years in a row and are desperate to finally return to the top flight this season.


    And Hamburg boss Tim Walter is keen to take the experienced Hendry to Hamburg for a fraction of the price Club Brugge paid for him.

    Absolute fraud. One of the worst players to have the career he's had, * wet wipe with zero character. Ball playing centre back who can barely play a pass under pressure, 6"2 but weak as *.

    Up there with Kenny Miller and Craig Gordon as my most hated ex player of the modern era.
