Yesterday I has a harsh realisation that a guy 5 years younger than me had just scored for Celtic, whilst I was lying down eating ice cream for breakfast trying to avoid revising for my final uni exams...

Absolutley delighted for the young yin.

I was at the Development game v Valencia at CP when the wee man scored, great to see him doing it months later for the first team on title day. A day he'll never forget. :50:

WHEN Jack Aitchison stepped on to the Celtic Park pitch in the 75th minute of the match against Motherwell, he made Celtic history as he became the youngest ever player to play a competitive match for the club at the age of 16 years and 71 days.
That in itself was a great achievement for the young striker, but things only got better when he fired home a goal with his first touch of the ball.
It was the stuff of fairytales, and capped a perfect day at Paradise as the champions celebrated their fifth league title in a row with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Motherwell before being presented with the Premiership trophy.
Aitchson had already scored at Celtic Park this season, netting for the Development Squad in their UEFA Youth League clash with Valencia, but to score for the first-team is something he admits he’s dreamed of since he’s been a wee boy … which isn’t that long ago.
Speaking after the game, he told the Celtic View: “I realised I would make history because I was on the bench and someone told me, so I was hoping I’d get on, but to score on my debut was just amazing.
“I’ve been dreaming since I’ve been a wee boy about this, so for it to fall in place with my first touch – I can’t describe the feeling.
“I didn’t think I’d get my first-team debut within three months of the Valencia game, never mind score, so it’s just phenomenal.
"I was told two days ago that I’d be in the squad, but I didn’t think I’d get as much time on the pitch as I did.”
And as for that historic goal, finished with the confidence of a natural striker, 16-year-old Aitchison said: “I hit the ball and I just started running because I knew it was in as soon as I hit it, but the atmosphere when I scored was amazing.”

Jack Aitchison speaking to @CelticTV "I've had a few sleepless nights but it was unreal to score on my debut."

JA: "Walking out the tunnel today then looking at the goal again was amazing and I'm very thankful."

JA on his goal: "The ball deflected into my path and it felt like I knew it was in as soon as I hit it."

JA: "It's a dream come true and all the hard work has paid off."

JA: "I'm very grateful to Ronny Deila for giving me so much time after including me in the team."

JA: "I trained with the U-17s today, we have a game on Thursday and we could win the league if we win."

    Beat me to it..

I'm pretty sure that's no how he meant it, but a reason a massive percentage of kid's, no just at Celtic, don't make it..

He probably didn't. Hard work and the right attitude is obviously he key to success for any young footballer nowadays.

I'm just wary of him going down the same road as Tony Watt. Imagine if Watt had the same attitude and application as Kieran Tierney.

Posted a quote on here yesterday regarding Aitchison. Seemingly he's a very level headed boy and his family are keeping him grounded. Don't think we need to worry about him being another Tony Watt.:50:

*, if Watt had the same attitude as Tierney we'd be laughing.

    That bodes well.

I wonder if Tony Watt regrets the choices he's made so far. He's still only 22 and I remember reading that he seems to have started moving in the right direction now - but that's 4 years lost.

I'd like to think he does regret them. He had plenty of ability but at this rate, he's never going to fulfil that potential.

Watt had all the attributes bar the main one. Application/Attitude. If he had half of Tierney's desire, he'd be a terrific player here, now..

A young Celtic fan punted, I'd say he very much does regret it..

Aitchieson looks like he could be a special striker for us. His goal was very good the way he was quick on to the ball and his finish was very good as well.
