I'd be happy enough with Fletcher. Would much prefer us to sign someone more long term but he'd be a good short term option.
He's different to the other strikers that we have and could see him being a good target man for Eddy to play off of

We don't need anymore midfielder's. Striker has to be a priority..

We were * in the 90s though, and now we're going for 10 in a row. So maybe the way we do it now is much better. :43:

I honestly think he could do a job for us. Seems to be a penalty box striker. Eddie comes deep and works the goal where as this guy seems to be there to latch on and finish. Both them up top could do some serious damage imo.

Also a CB and LB must be a priority also. Certainly before the CL qualifiers.

    Fletcher's a midfielder mate..

He was thrown in up front but he's a midfielder..

Not Fletcher for me. Feels pointless.

I like the look of Toney, but a League 1 striker with a year left on his contract is not worth £8m. £4m is about right if not a little generous - he’s got potential but leading the line for Celtic is a big step up.

Boys who are happy with Fletcher over the likes of Ajeti or Toney! Wow

You wouldn't think we are about to enter one of the most important seasons in history.

Barry Fry is playing this well tbf. He knows he won't get 8mil but maybe 4mil is much more realistic. He's trying to drum up interest and create news!

If another couple of teams pay attention and even if eventually he makes £5-6mil for the player then its worth it.

Extra mil or 2 to his team is massive

I don't think we will get Toney or Ajeti, probably some other striker that hasn't been mentioned yet,but that will be in addition to Fletcher the striker. He has experience and has played up here with Hibs......when he got released from Slade prison:67:

Aye I agree with that regarding toney, I cant believe PL would sanction a £5mil signing with a year left in his contract. Has he lost the plot?

No chance should we be spending more than a million or so on a LEAGUE 1 player in last year if his contract .

I dunno how id feel about us spending £5m on him.
Hopefully it would be structured in the same way as the Barkas deal - £3m or so
up front with the rest in performance related bonuses. His goal record since 2016 has been decent, so maybe in a team like us he could yet better his return.
Sky have us at 2/1 favourites to sign him with Brentford second at 5/2 but in reality id imagine they have the edge.

I think we’ve offered enough for him. If they don’t want it then move on.

But see people saying we should offer over £2m or even £1m, it’s similar ignorance people use about our league. There’s talent everywhere.

Players find their level to get a chance and to improve then they move onto a bigger club. This could be Toney’s.

Whether it’s here or the Championship, he will carry on his impressive scoring. I’m not willing to over pay, but don’t write the guy off because of the league he’s in.

This mate. Some guys score lots of goals because of the level of opposition they are playing against but some guys are just natural finishers who are always in the right position no matter what level they play.

I have only seen youtube videos of this guy but he always seems to take up good positions in the box and there is some great finishes in there.

It’s a difficult one but I don’t want us to overpay. I will trust Lenny’s judgement and Gavin Strachan has obviously just come from Peterborough so has worked with him and will know him better than most with seen him in training every day.

I know where your coming from mate BUT, if he is worth £2-3m with his contract running out then I don’t see why not. If he is worth £5-6m in the middle of a contract then it’s a no brainer as we would be getting him for half that value. We are a club that speculates to accumulate massively down the line and if he is so good I wouldn’t look too much into the politics.

I agree to a certain extent especially given how skewed the English market is, but we bought Hooper for over £2 million and he was playing about the same level.
