According to Transfermarkt, he's been booked 6 times in 35 games for us. Find that amazing. I know a large number of those games is coming on as a sub, but still. Expected it to be higher.

He shouldn't need to have the habit of committing stupid, needless fouls coached out of him. He's 23 now. He should know himself that he has to chuck it. Just brainless at times.

In general though, he just isn't what we need. It really shows how dreadful we (and Scott Brown) were last season, when a lot of us thought Soro was the answer.

He frightens me with some of his tackles, a red card waiting to happen.

Brown was overused, and that led to the drop in performance. Soro is okay enough for Scotland. I wouldn't mind McCarthy playing, but the manager believes he's not fit to start games.

With us having only two attacking midfielders, we could do with a ball-winner anyway, because freshness and energy will be key to a good high press. I guess the only fit enough alternative to Soro is Shaw?

I'm not going to write him off just yet, a lot of the criticisms being levelled at him remind me of things I used to say about a young Brown when he first signed, lots of needless fouls when he'd just be better pressuring instead of going straight in to the tackle, and headless chicken energy chasing things instead of focusing on his positioning. Not saying he'll become as important a player for us, but he's still young with plenty of room to improve and mature as a player.

He has that same flaw that could be put with so many of the team and issues we have that he lacks the ability to remain focused and concentrate on what’s happening.

The booking he picked up was just plain stupid all for pressuring Fekir there but don’t dive in. He did a lot of good stuff last night in terms of winning the ball and even some of his forward passing but that was overshadowed by some terrible decisions and positioning throughout. It’s a hard one as I feel he needs more game time if he is to ever properly develop but we are in a situation where we can’t afford him to make mistakes as our midfield is so lightweight and weak.

A loan to another top flight club if we had actually signed a first team physical CM would have been ideal.

    Just showed why he's never a 6..

He cannot be trusted to be the last line of midfield..

    He's a pressing, box to box 8..

Will he still be as rash there? Quite possibly but if we had a defensively astute player behind him, maybe that would calm him down a bit..

If he doesn't wise up and quickly, he's gone..

He looked like a duck out of water for large parts of that game. His rashness has not been tempered at all. Looks a good bit off it atm.

He doesn’t have the attacking attributes to be a box to box midfielder, from what I’ve seen. He’s definitely a defensive ball winner.

I would agree with that. I just do not see him being good enough with the ball and his movement to be an 8. I have said on here a while that while there is for sure some promise there he is at best right now a back up 6 for me and sadly he was exposed badly last night. Not saying the defeat was all his fault as it wasn't. But he was very poor last night there is no getting around that. That game was too much for him level wise last night.

I think he’s good at carrying the ball forward and winning the ball high up the pitch, I think he’d be more suited to that role for now.

That doesn't mean he has to score and assists loads. We have enough in our side going forward for that..

His pressing from the front can be valuable though. Has the pace and energy to get about and help out say a McGregor or McCarthy in the 6. Gives us a bit more licence and doesn't expose him too much either..

I'm no saying every week but a wee run here and there in the 8 could work..

Him in the 6 just doesn't work. He's too reckless and unreliable..

    Without doubt..

We'd actually score quite a few from him carrying out that job..

Kyogo and Then him following behind in the press. A nightmare..

I've backed him previously but that was a proper pathetic performance from him yesterday.

Just brainless at times. He was * poor for their 2nd and 3rd too.

I've been a fan of him for a while. The last couple of games he's been very rash. Every tackle is a foul.

He was lucky not to be sent off last night.

He needs coaching. If only we had competent coaches.
