No one would say he is the greatest footballer. But definitely a very good player. Couldn't shoot for * but that was not his game. As someone said a great reader of the game, breaking up play, hard but fair and wound the opposition up to * putting them off their game. So your throwaway statement has no foundations:38:

I would say he embodies the expression "Celtic Legend".

Not the greatest, but he was a great player for his role in the game. He did all the dirty, un-fancy, hard and ugly work. He allowed those around (and in front) him to be able to concentrate more on attacking and the more fancy/news worthy actions. The likes of Petrov, Thompson, Larsson etc would not have been as free and successful in their roles without the abilities of Lennon behind them doing all the dirty, hard, unappreciated work/part of football.

Would care to say why he disappointed you as a person?

I'm quite curious. Was looking forward to bump into him some day at west end actually

Thats my dilemma.I have voted Yes, but in truth i dont think he was either a great player, or a great manager.
I think he was a decent player, and a fair manager, and its only his character as a human being, plus staying with it when he was being abused that perhaps make him a legend.

I really like him, and respect him, but in footballing terms id say he wasnt a legend.

In my eyes, his service to the club as a footballer, coach and manager plus winning several trophies for the club give him that status. The strength of character in adversity just adds to it.

    Of course he is.

Could have easily * off when the scum started sending him bullets through the post, that * at tynecastle tried to punch him etc etc but he said * them.

Id love Neil Lennon to be our manager liftin 10 in a row, that would really cement his place among the legends.
