If that’s the truth then that’s a * joke! Another injury prone CB to add to the 3 we already had!

    Armstrong isn't far away.

Griff should get an update soon.

He's played a few games for the youth team.

BRENDAN RODGERS has confirmed Patrick Roberts is winning his fitness battle ahead of next weekend’s trip to Ibrox.

The fans’ favourite has been ruled out since November after suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell.

But he stepped up his return by playing an hour for the Hoops’ development team in Friday’s win against Partick Thistle.

Now the wing sensation could play his first competitive games in three months this week against Dundee and Morton.

Speaking to BBC Scotland before yesterday’s 2-0 win at Aberdeen, Rodgers said: “We think that Patrick Roberts should be back next week.

“He played for 60 minutes for the Development Team on Friday so we’re hoping that he’ll be back in action this coming week.”

New signing Marvin Compper is also close to recovering from a calf injury, while Stuart Armstrong is also on the mend after undergoing a shock hernia operation.

But Parkhead boss Rodgers refused to put a time frame on when crocked Leigh Griffiths will be back.

He said: “Compper shouldn’t be too far away either and Stuart Armstrong over the next few weeks, he’ll not be too far away.

“Leigh Griffiths there is still doubt around the length of time that he’ll be out, he needs to feel no pain in his calf, obviously he’s had a lot of time not training.

“Some of them are nearly back but others are going to take more time.”

Stuart wont make Sevco game but not far away after that. Big Belgian defender will be ready for Sevco but this weekend to early and Leigh definately wont make Sevco game still no conclusive timeframe according to BR,

Dedryck Boyata is on course to return to action for Celtic in the Old Firm showdown at Ibrox on 11 March but Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths are both facing lengthier lay-offs than initially anticipated.

Belgian central defender Boyata has been sidelined since suffering a groin injury in the 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock on 3 February. The 27-year-old has now resumed light training and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expects him to be available for the trip to face Rangers on Sunday week.

“Dedryck is looking good in his work on the training field and he will probably be back after this weekend,” said Rodgers. “That will be great news for us. He has been top class for us so it will be great if he’s back for the Rangers game.”

Rodgers will have to wait longer before he can again call upon midfielder Armstrong and striker Griffiths, however.

Armstrong has not played since having surgery on a hernia operation during the winter break, while Griffiths continues to be troubled by the calf problems which saw him last feature when he limped out of the 1-0 home win over Hibs on 27 January.

“Stuart has now stepped up the intensity of his training,” reported Rodgers. “Maybe over the course of the next couple of weeks, he could be back working with the main first team group but I think it’s probably going to be after the international break at the end of March before he can play again.

“Leigh has now seen a specialist about his calves and what-not. Of course, even when he can get back on to the training field, he needs to get fit. So that’s going to be an extended period for him, really.”

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon, midfielder Nir Bitton and winger Jonny Hayes also remain on the absentee list for Celtic. But defender Marvin Compper and on-loan winger Patrick Roberts are both fully fit again and back in Rodgers’ squad for tonight’s Premiership fixture at home against Dundee.

Wow that really is bad news on Griffiths sounds like we won't see him back till the end of March at least as well as Armstrong. Getting Roberts back though is a huge boost even if tonights game was called off hopefully he still gets a 30 minute odd run out at the weekend against Morton. Having the creativity and goals of both Rogic and Roberts back will be a massive boost for us I think.

As long as Griff is back and match fit for the CL qualifiers. Such an important player for us in them.

One of the set-backs of last night’s game against Dundeebeing called off was the lack of game time for Patrick Roberts and Marvin Compper.

The duo were expected to get some minutes under their belt after their injury issues but will now have to wait until the weekend.

Roberts has been given the all clear to play after consulting a hamstring specialist in order to ascertain that the injury he suffered a repeat of is unlikely to re-occur, while Compper has been forced to wait for his Celtic debut after getting injured at the club’s mid-season training camp in Dubai.

The veteran German stopper suffered a calf strain and then tweaked the opposite calf as he was set to return. Both players will look to feature at some stage against Morton on Saturday afternoon.

“You need to accept that there will be injuries and dips in form but we have had guys stand up and do well,” said Davies. “We are getting a few back now and it is important that they are ready because when you play 60 games you need a full squad.

“Marvin has just started training again. Unfortunately it has been a frustrating few months for him because he has had some niggles and some problems and now it is about building up that fitness now.”

Both should get some time vs Morton, hopefully.

Choking to see what Compper brings to the table for us and will be great to see Paddy back.
