I need to settle an argument with her.

How much do you tip a delivery driver when they bring your scran?

Do you do a percentage of the overall total or a straight £1 £2 £3 or whatever?

(I once tipped a guy at my door because I thought he had handed me food, but it was a next delivery for her! The guy was * himself and said that’s the first time that had ever happened and then asked me if I thought he was delivering my food!! He gave me the tip back! Mucho embarrassment!)

Anyway, how much do you tip?

Depends, I usually round it up and add a quid or two. Like if it's 22.80 I'll give them 25. 18.50 I'll give them 20.

Once had a wee hun * charged me 16.90 and gave him 16.80 exactly and told him to scram. Shat his pants.

Depends how quick they are delivering for where I live. Normally do give a £5 tip but if they stand with there hand out like a tramp driving a top of the range BMW then they get fuckall.

also delivery is charged and added to our total where i live so thats there money and it can be £8 delivery charge so all depends

Round it up to the nearest £5 with a bit of leeway

    If its £22.50, £25 quid.

If its 24.50 then I'll generally give £3 over the £25

The beautifully suited and booted driver from The Bombay Cottage got £2

We just spent £30 odd and it’s a mile away tops!

I no longer tip delivery drivers. I did when it was cash and rounded up. Paying online in advance I no longer tip.

Takeaways bumped up prices when things went cashless and home delivery became more popular. They were already factoring in lost tips and paying taxi drivers to make deliveries.

Why are takeaway drivers one of the few things people tip?

What do they do that merits a tip over many other workers?

The costs of fuel and car maintenance can easily stack up to the thousands very quickly even more so when you are doing short stop start journeys all day.

Most people have to drive or get public transport to their work. They don't get compensated or tipped for that.

Short trips when the car is cold is bad. If you're on the go all the time and the car is warmed up it's not that harmful.

I’ve stopped for the most part as I don’t really use cash. I do feel a little bad for it, but the prices have been hiked up at almost every takeaway and it should be down to them to pay them a fair wage.

There’s a driver who delivers Thai to me regularly. Really quick every time and he always comes across as a genuinely nice guy as well, so tipped him a tenner at Christmas.

    Tip when I pay cash..

It's only a bit of loose change that might stop them spitting in your munch:fear:

Same for me. I felt bad for a while but I can’t be * making sure I’ve got cash/change all the time. I do 10% on the app usually but sometimes the cost of the takeaway is massive so it just seems too much.

    The times are changing.

    It’s an interesting point though.
Why are tips expected in some jobs but not others?
Never had a tip in my life.
