That’s why I don’t understand this quarantine the govt have put in place it’s to get people to spend their money here and not abroad! As you said atol could end up having to pick the tab up if Tui or Jet2holidays go bust!!!!

Hopefully you’ll be ok by February... but cruise ships will be under a lot of scrutiny and if countries don’t allow failings from their ports (as the USA is doing now) then there’s not much the companies can do...
SOme companies seem to be looking at tentatively restarting in August but will struggle if there’s nowhere to sail from/too. Remobilising crew and vessels can take a lot of time as well.

social distancing on a cruise ship is next to
Impossible as well.... so I’d suspect they will be some of the last sectors to return to a near normal situation.

You might be saying long in strange circumstances but February is a lot more realistic than August ..

How does the U.K. air carriers proposed resumption of flights sit with the government and the 14 day quarantine?

Will the government ban flights if they feel there’s a risk... or is the quarantine a discouragement while allowing travel to restart?

Personally... I think that as soon as large scale U.K. and international travel resumes there will be a resurgence in virus cases in most countries.

Will depend on the R rate though mate and if everyone keeps their social distancing up. An increase coming out of lockdown is to be expected but some countries think the R won’t go above 1 again apparently

You would be aff yer * heid to want to sit on a plane with hundreds of strangers next Monday IMO.

If the other end was the land of milk and honey you might have a partial reason but the place you’re going to isn’t a normal Spanish (or anywhere else) holiday.

Meant to be going to Majorca 15th June which is family package deal, its cancelled and told now I've to speak separately with the airline and love holidays re either getting money back or the voucher? Can't get through to either, surely as it's a package deal through love holidays I should be dealing with them alone.
    Gona try again today

I would say very good odds as long as R rate stays down Paul. I am due to go to Benidorm august and the hotel chain emailed me directly (we I am a regular eh @JC Anton ) to ask if I want my normal room they are opening back up 1st July at 60% capacity and extreme measures Spain hopes to be “normal” by end of June apparently, few expats I know over there saying it’s fine with the expats and Spaniards only worry is when the “ignorant Brits” come back which is what they are needing to save their summer and tourism. You just might need to isolate for 14 days when you come back if that Tory policy is still in place.

The Spanish (and others) would do well to prevent Brits from entering their country.
Between ourselves, Sweden and USA we do not remotely have a control on this virus in the same way that the Spanish, Italians, french, Germans etc do.
If they let Brits in, it will spike again for them.

I'm not sure it will get that far though, honestly I think in two weeks (or less) the UK is going to see another peak with this.
Completely mismanaged lockdown and the public genuinely believe they've got this virus under control. We haven't. Far far from it.

Other countries honestly long term will be best not letting Brits in to their country for the time being.

Cheers. This was what I was thinking. The 60% thing tho I wasn’t aware but there still selling the same holiday with ma travel agent So I’m assuming they haven’t sold 60% probably due to punters cancelling or even airlines themselves. Good auld Ryanair holding on to the last kick!!! Starting to get excited about it now had actually lost all hope.
