The Irish mob /mafia (which globally translates as scumbag families whether Irish Italian Chinese Somali or whatever) were running the show in the USA for a lot longer and it could be argued more effectively and completely in their day.

The poorest most disadvantaged, the most recent outsider by default produce the most obvious crime. At least that is what the puppet media tell you as their white collar criminals bosses of the establishment are busy robbing everyone and so powerful they can write and rewrite the law as and when needed.
Just more movies have been made about the Italian crooks, exaggerated and romanticized, but same short term thugs of old, they never invented any crime or scam.

The really successful most powerful of todays mobs, could be argued is the mob who work for Israel all around the world. They can make war when ever and it seems against who ever without fear.
If you admire violent thugs who are willing to do anything for power, just saying, you would have to admire them.

De Niro (who described himself as more culturally Irish) worked for a director who was running arms for Israel! Can you imagine any other group powerful enough to get away with it and so blatantly.

Not to be confused with the Jewish mob, as Zionists are a very different crew.

Sadly so, I remember reading graffiti on a road bridge as a kid.
"DONT VOTE IT ONLY ENCOURAGES THEM"

Talking of Mafia Families, the gambinos, corleones etc! anyone who is impressed with these sort of mobs ruthlessness effectiveness and wealth from crime. And I do get the base fascination! but you should read up on and be prepared to be mesmerized by the German mobs, especially the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, now that family is fecking into everything and it seems everywhere.
the cousins and second cousins own most of Europe and much of the rest of the world either in deed or via companies, of course they don't run it directly with their own hands (generations of the softest gloved hands now but descended from really violent evil *) they let governments do that for them.
But they have all the other trappings of common crooks, just a lot more elaborate. They call their street soldiers guards for example and have a lot more of them swearing allegiance.

Thought 'everything is a rich man's trick' on you tube was a good account of telling how mafia is interlinked to government.
