Nocunt knew a thing about the inside workings of the Mafia until this guy. * died in prison with a $100k bounty put on his head by Vito Genovese. Lucky boy.

@Doogs. I know you were talking specifically about the US Mafia but "The Mafia's Secret Bunkers" about the Ndrngheta on BBC 4 last night was good.

Yeah sure I watched it before mate, was good, that the one with the Cacciatori? Basically too dangerous to go to the coppers if you have a problem with the Ndrangheta so they started up and are more respected than the coppers in Calabria. Some of the bunkers are amazing.

Yeah it was a repeat. Mind some of the technology the State have is pretty frightening as well.

I'm pretty into it but nowhere near the level of some of you guys on here. Seen most of the mainstream films and read a couple of books but would like to get more into it. Any books or documentary recommendations would be cool.

Aye it is mate, unreal some of the stuff they have. Need to give it a watch again the day rejog my memory.
Watch the “Mobsters” series on YouTube mate, gives you a bio on a different gangster or family in each episode, right from the 20s/30s right up to the 90s. Basically 100s of different ones on YouTube I’ve probably watched about 100 in the last week.

My old granda was right in to it, he knew Walter Norval and Jimmy Boyle back in the day and was a bit of a boy himself to be honest in his day :giggle1: I was basically brought up on it :giggle1:

Black Mass is a good movie, thought Depp looked a bit weird though.

    Whitey was a maniac.

Once you start watching a few mate, more and more will pop up and you end up just getting lost in it.

    This.

Fascinating bloke, definitely my favourite mobster of all time. Widely underrated as far as history goes.

I like how he got kicked out of the US, and still ran the show from Cuba. Brilliant stuff.

100%, it's been a while since I've read about him but didn't he also hire people who weren't from Italian backgrounds which was big no no at that time

Bang on. He thought the Sicilian traditions were antiquated and out of sort. If he thought somebody was trust worthy then their background didn't matter.

    He's well due a movie I'd say.

I know they did a movie in the early 70s but I think he's due a Scorsese project or something.

I thought so, that was one of the reasons I admired him. Yeah it's a strange one that he's not had a movie

Apparently a movie was being talked about before he snuffed it.

    Guys a legend.

    Yeah I heard that!

Apparently he met with a movie director who planned on telling the story of his life. Apparently other mobsters weren't best pleased.

    Class act though.

Been watching that Netflix series making the mob. The program is class.
Surprised HBO haven’t made a tv series based on Lucky Luciano.
