This could be debated all day. There's no point referencing Roberto Carlos, TAA, Dani Alves etc as we can't get close to that level of player.

Obviously there's good tall full backs, there good average height left backs as you call it and there's good small ones.

I'm not overly arsed. Just want a good one. And a good CDM. Not disagreeing with that at all.

If you want another example this time, Guardiola has played guys with an average height of 6ft 1/2 at fullback for most of this season. So it really just depends what the preference is.

My opinion is that we need more physicality in the full back areas too. You can be relatively short but still be powerful and not be ourmuscled easily, so it doesn't mean I want a 6ft 2 full back who has pace and good delivery as thats very likely not gonna happeb.

The issue is right now we have two very small full backs who have no physical attributes. Bernabei has pace but no strength and the positional sense of a cocker spaniel. Taylor has no pace, no strength and questionable positioning.

It shouldn't be hard to upgrade either, regardless of stature.

Looks a very decent player and if he's one we've identified it should of been done 4 weeks ago. Absolutely no chance Peterbrough are letting such a big player go at this stage.

Why do we continually think every other club is run as amatuerly as we are?

Maybe we've went in for him for 4 weeks and finally released it so the player can pressure for the move? #sitnhope :56:

Agreed that each manager has his preferences. Guardiola and Rodgers value ball possession over ball pressure. Ange values ball pressure over ball possession. I just never understood why we changed our philosophy. Most of our players don't fit our new system. Kyogo was a perfect forward under Ange. He's a shell of himself under BR. Plenty of other names come to mind: Maeda, Abada, Taylor, etc. It seems like BR doesn't know how to use pacey players. The only player who's a better fit under Rodgers is O'Riley (=tall/strong player) who was underperforming last season.

We had a crystal clear philosophy under Ange. Not anymore. We just buy players at positions of need regardless of fit. Individual talent is important, but football is a team game. The whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. No wonder we end up having a dysfunctional team.

We asked early in January, got knocked back, so just didn’t bother the rest of the month looking for one :56:

Celtic enquired about Harrison Burrows early in the January transfer window - but did not follow up on that approach with Peterborough.

The left-back, 22, has been rumoured to be the left-sided defender the Hoops are speaking to this evening ahead of a deadline busting swoop. Celts have been desperate to bring in competition for Greg Taylor and identified Tiago Araujo of Estoril back in November and Burrows at Posh in early January. But Football Scotland understands they did not progress forward with Burrows.
