    Why?

Because we want to sign a highly rated, 19 year old left back to learn from our highly experienced, quality full back coming in?

As @McChiellini.. mentioned above, I wanted Leif Davis and Harrison Burrows when they were operating at this level. We were linked, didn't get them and now they're outwith our reach.

This could be a really sensible move. Taylor needs a fresh start and so do we.

Whichever LB we get, we should do it quickly. I'd be happy to see a set piece specialist get signed. That said, Engels was touted as a corner kick expert...

His deliveries have been pretty good tbh.

Impossible to find someone who's bang on everytime. But he puts a good cross in, for me.

By all accounts he's not been first choice for them the entire season, but another season there and he's likely out of our reach.

Smart scouting if we get him now, he'll get plenty of gametime.

So basically we were linked with 2 upcoming LBs in the past (among numerous other players), so this guy must be just as good. Makes sense. In the meantime, he played 8 games in League 1 last season and another 8 in the National League South. Feel free to be happy with that. Personally, I'd be disappointed. Chances are he'd be a massive downgrade on Taylor.

By all accounts he's been excellent for Peterborough this season when he has played, good enough that us and Fulham are interested.

If we wait another year, chances are they'll be asking for £8-£9 million for him.

Tierney will be undisputed first choice this season, but having a player like this to rotate for likely less than £2 million is a no brainer.

Everyone agrees we need new first team ready LB to back up KT, it's not this guy - not yet at least.
The boy is a project that will almost certainly go straight out on loan if we pick him up.

Yep, that's exactly why Brendan is desperate to keep Taylor

I think we tried to do that with Valle coming in on loan and hope to buy him at the end. He obviously didn't want to stay. We should have managed it better in January though and got a left back in on a loan to buy.

I'm amazed at how in recent years at right back we signed Frimpong, JJ and AJ but at left back Taylor is the best we've signed since KT left

Give Anderson or frame a chance to learn from KT. If either of them can't act as back up, I dont know why we even have a youth set up

They need to learn with experience, do that away from here and come back in a year.

Anderson spent the year in Austria..relying on other clubs to give our young players first team exposure isn't always the way to go.. factor in also probably 60/70 percent of our domestic games we have already won by the 60/70 minute our exposure of young players to first team football is abysmal.. Anderson for example should have been recalled in January when valle went

Exclusive: Celtic table transfer bid for Peterborough United star Harley Mills

Peterborough United have fielded a second offer for defender Harley Mills - this time from Celtic, Football League World understands.

    Posh
were mulling over a £1m approach from Fulham for the former Aston Villa trainee, but now the Bhoys have entered the race for the left-back.

The 19-year-old left-back enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 season at the Weston Homes Stadium, making 17 total appearances and bagging two goals as well as one assist in all competitions.

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have entered the race to sign Peterborough United defender Harley Mills and have tabled an approach for the teenager, Football League World understands.

Mills was playing on loan at National League South side Enfield Town at the start of last season, but was called back to his parent club in November.

He managed to cement a spot in Darren Ferguson’s side during the second half of the campaign, and bagged a brilliant free-kick in their EFL Trophy Final win against League One title-winning Birmingham City.

That raised his profile and sent the scouts flocking to see Ferguson’s men.

Scouts from north of the border had been interested in Kwame Poku - and a massive fight has developed over the 23-year-old forward who is now out of contract.

But Mills has taken their eye too, and the Scottish giants want competition within their first-team set up which might tilt the balance in their favour.

Fulham wanted the defender to continue his development as part of their Under-23 set-up.

Posh have offered the player improved terms, but now he has to weigh up where his future lies after the two clubs came calling.

There must be something in the water down at the Weston Homes Stadium, as the club have seemingly mastered the art of producing quality young left-backs.

Harrison Burrows was sold to Sheffield United last summer for a reported initial fee of £3m, with a further £3m in performance-related add-ons.

As such, the emergence of Mills in the second half of the 2024/25 season has seemingly handed Posh Burrows' long-term successor, and once again reaffirmed their reputation as having one of the best production lines for young talent in the EFL.

Therefore, despite interest from Premier League clubs and now Glaswegian giants Celtic potentially being very tough for both the club and player to turn down, Peterborough will surely not want to be searching for yet another starting left-back ahead of the 25/26 campaign.

However, whilst they remain a League One club, retaining the services of their best young talent will continue to prove extremely difficult, as they've learnt once again this summer with the departures of the aforementioned Poku, as well as Hector Kyprianou and Ricky-Jade Jones respectively

Looks a good yin. Set piece specialist too, exactly what we need.

Good height too for a full back at 5'11'.

If we’ve genuinely put a bid in I hope we get him. Taylor looks to be in the way out.

Left back is notoriously hard to find quality in tbf. I'd imagine largely due to left footers being a lot rarer! As obvious as that sounds.

We struggled for years before Izaguirre as well.

Rather sign Harley Quinn!..but seriously, don';t know much about the fella but backup to KT is gonna be a problem to bring in, I was hoping fer a Josh Doig or similar but can't see him wanting to play 2nd fiddle so if this guy is promising and looks the part no harm in it tbh as it's not gonna be an expensive deal.
