Honestly, I genuinely like the guy - seems like a fairly good professional and at least he plays with a bit of heart. I'm sure he works his socks off, both on the park and in training.

That being said, sorry mate, but you just simply are not good enough for Celtic.

No stats will tell me otherwise. Simply gash.

We get 25 million for our former left back and replace him with Taylor the recruitment has been honking and the board hording the money and not getting in a quality replacement and should have spent more on a replacement .

I'd actually say Taylor is a far better player than Ralston.

    Which is the worrying part...

We replaced Tierney with Taylor AND Bolingoli.

The latter was brought in as a direct replacement for Tierney.

Boli was always going to be the backup.

We had a deal for Romain Perraud basically agreed but Lawwell for some weird reason had a hardon about getting the £25m from Arsenal in one lump sum.

By the time Arsenal agreed to it Perraud had already been sold. We then went for Taylor and Kilmarnock knew we had no other options so got £3m from us for him.

Perraud has just signed for Southampton for like £15m.

We signed Bolingoli about 3 month before we signed Taylor...

And didn’t sign Perraud because we didn’t want to sign a first choice LB until Tierney had been sold.

Not denying that, but Taylor was brought in as back up to Boli.

This shows how biased you are. He's got a good first touch, stamina's ok and he does more running than most so could tire quicker, plays a lot of good balls into the box, makes good runs in behind and doesn't dive into tackles giving away free kicks but stays on his feet and makes it hard for opposition players. He can't beat a man but that isn't always needed in a FB if he makes the right runs in behind which he does.
If you choose to instantly forget the good things a player does and concentrate on any mistakes he makes you can make any player look *.

The whole back 5 aren't first picks, which I'm itself is a shambles..

We're a mess and it's going to take time to sort.

I don't see anything in him as a footballer.

    Think he's so so average.

    Taylor cost more than Perraud.

Said it before but the amount we spend is nothing to do with the situation we’re in. It’s what we’re spending it on. Our wage bill has went up by about 50% or something in the last 5 years while our team has got worse.

    I agree to an extent.

Which is why when the club publishes what it has spent on players during a particular manager's era, as a means of fending off criticism that the manager wasn't backed, this requires significant contextualising.

But just because we might have spent money, which on the face of it, is cumulatively high, does not mean the club wasn't haggling over a few hundred grand and jeopardising transfers with incessant penny-pinching.

Look at the state of negotiations with Hibs over McGinn for instance. Even Turnbull nearly fell out of our hands.

We have Toney at Lennoxtown but just can't "get it over the line." That's pathetic. We aren't being outbid here. The player is in the building and keen. Just get it done ffs.

Ange summed them up last week and this is systematic of their stewardship..

You look at those instances you've highlighted from before his time and he said we missed out on deals due to "hesitating". In other word's we were doing our usual, penny pinching from the biscuit tin and didn't fancy paying what was required to get that standard of player in the building. Then when we do break the bank, the recruitment side is astonishingly inept for a club of our size..

    Nothing has changed..

    Exactly.

    It's just terrible business.

We miss out on first choice targets, then face the embarrassing fallout from another set of incompetent negotiations that it sparks a reactionary urge which ends up with us squandering millions on players who are way down the manager's preference list, often duds.

Just pay the * money on the first choice targets. No * around.

    That’s my point.

The amount we’re spending isn’t the problem in terms of investment. It’s a massive problem though because of what we’re spending it on and being stuck with the players because no one else will take them.

If you buy wrong you buy twice. Or in our case 6 or 7 times.

Some fans seem to think we can just spend our way out of this which doesn’t make any sense at all. Especially considering what we’ve been spending on recently.
