No argument that we need better for his position asap but I would keep him for depth as he can do a job in the league. Felt that before injury, he was actually settling into the inverted fullback role better than most people are willing to give him credit for.

That being said - he also had some moments that made me want to knock my head off a brick wall :87:

But fellow Hoops defender Greg Taylor is unlikely to play this year.

Greg’s had an operation on his shoulder, it’s about four weeks since he started rehab so he’s still a good couple of months away.

“It’s a contact thing where we have to be careful.”

With Boli Bolingoli not in Celtic’s UEFA squad, that means Adam Montgomery will contest the left-back spot in the Europa League clashes with Josip Juranovic.

The Hoops boss added: “Adam is happy he’s getting called into training and working with the other guys – I’d hate to think anyone at this club thinks they are first choice with me, particularly a 19-year-old in his first season.

Celtic are delighted to announce that Greg Taylor has signed a new deal which will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2025 – the perfect birthday present for the player who is celebrating his 24th birthday today (November 5).

He joined the club from Kilmarnock in September 2019, making his Celtic debut in a home league game against St Mirren the following month.

He has made 60 appearances so far for the Hoops, scoring one goal, which came against KR Reykjavik last season, while he has also won the league and the Scottish Cup in the 2019/20 season.

He has also been capped six times for Scotland.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou said: "I am delighted that Greg has extended his contract with the Club. He has had an excellent start to the season and has made a really valuable contribution to the team.

"Unfortunately he has suffered the injury in recent weeks, but our focus and his, is now to get him back in the squad as soon as possible, have him pick up where he left off and playing at that same high level.

“I am really pleased he has committed his future to Celtic and I am sure he will be an important player for us over the next few years."

Hopefully we can tie up Barkas on a longer contract too.

Pleased for him, he gets the way Ange wants to play..

He's limited yes, but trust Ange's judgement on this one..

Provided we sign another quality LB in Jan.

I'm feeling ill even reading the manager's comment's..

Important player for us over the next few year's
Have him pick up where he left off and playing at that same high level

    Jeez..

He could never put in a showing like last night away in Europe like Juranovic, and Juranovic is a right back..

It's probably the most glaring position in the squad that needs improving....with central midfield after..

I was hoping we would have a quality left back lined up but him getting a new deal has me worried..

I genuinely hand on heart don't rate him a single bit and don't think he's good enough to even be our backup..

    Slow
    Tiny
    Weak
    Redundant in the air
Can barely pick out a cross
    * in the tackle
    Gasses early
Passing is pish/kills loads of moves stone dead
Gets done with the ball around him all the time
Comes in to midfield and gets it taken off him and leaves massive spaces in behind that usually get exploited

It's no surprise that we look a better defense with him nowhere near our match day squad's..

People say he's dependable and does a job. I disagree. He's utter muck and we'll never get rid of him now..

We would probably have to shift Bolingoli in that case, which may not be easy

A decent backup option so not too fussed about the deal but we need a proper first choice in asap.

PS. Happy Birthday wee Tayls. Probably best to avoid social media today :fear:
