I think Boli has a lot of good qualities, he just looks a little raw/nervous. I think bottom line he looks more like a wing back.

Taylor looks average-decent at everything, and I’m talking SPL, not Europe.

Call me old fashioned but I’d like a left back who is good defensively first and foremost. Someone aggressive who is also good in the air.

Neil Lennon had Scotland star Greg Taylor scouted at the weekend as the Celtic boss steps his search for Kieran Tierney’s replacement.

Tosh McKinlay compiled a report on the left-back as Taylor’s Kilmarnock side went down 2-0 at Hamilton on Saturday.

Record Sport exclusively revealed last week the 21-year-old was among several names under consideration to replace Tierney, who completed his £25million move to Arsenal last Thursday.



Celtic manager Lennon is poised to hold talks with chief executive Peter Lawwell and his recruitment department this week as they look to strengthen their squad for the domestic and what they hope will be a prolonged Champions League assaults.


Celtic have already signed £3million Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo from Rapid Vienna earlier in the window but the Scottish champions feel they need another left-back with more defensive qualities.


Derby County defender Max Lowe, who had been on loan at Aberdeen, is another option on Celtic’s list although Taylor would be a cheaper option.

The Killie star is also on the radar of Nurnberg, with the German side having already had a bid turned down


The Bundesliga II side remain interested and could move again before the close of their domestic window.

Killie boss Angelo Alessio is keen to keep Taylor and was central to Nurnberg’s bid being turned down.



If Celtic are to strike a deal then they would need to at least double that bid and include significant add-ons for a player that they have nurtured through their ranks and into a full international.

Our recruitment of young talent n giving them a platform to perform, then look to make a profit in a year or 2 has fallen away aswell for some reason. That used to be our strategy for all our business. Now it seems as though we can't get anybody in the door and reverting to Greg Taylor as a 'contingency' just reeks of laziness

 

I hope this is a serious bit of scouting for back up to original targets but I doubt it.

To receive £25m for Tierney and target this guy would be gross negligence from Celtic imo.

Aye some will say Boli is £3m left back and that’s a decent amount but with £40m transfer surplus from the last year we should be looking to spend at least half and bank half imo!

 

On the flip side Hammond was down at Middlesbrough apparently watching Henry platform Brentford again

 

Lewis Stevenson available as well, get the scouts down to Easter Road.

 

Dinny need a passport for that mate. There is no excuse for not spending some of that kt money. I can't understand our board at times for not investing more. We already have so many assets in the squad atm that if we ever came near financial trouble we could flog a couple. Forrest, calmac, ajer, Christie, ntcham, edouard. They could all generate massive fees so we should be investing more into the starting 11 with young European quality players

 

If Taylor is Tierney's replacement then it tells you everything about the boards ambitions. Taylor is not good enough.

 

Think it's good business but if that's the replacement for Tierney, and this is the contingency plan i don't think many people will be all that impressed.

 

A week or two back NL said we had a contingency plan for KT leaving. If that was true why are we just scouting guys a few days after he left. If Bolingoli and Taylor are what we are left with for LB's at the end of this window then the people in charge of the club will have committed a serious case of self-harm.

 

This whole transfer rumours section is getting depressing , at least at the start of the window we were linked with some quality, now its greg fukin taylor , jesus what a comedown
