Record claiming we've turned our attention to Meling over Taylor, would subside with the rumorus that we've dropped interest in him, they've been awfully inaccurate this window tho

In other words we won’t pay 3 million to Killie but will to Rosenborg

CELTIC are actively looking at alternatives to Greg Taylor, according to reports.

The Hoops are not prepared to meet the Ayrshire side's £3million asking price for the left-back.

Killie value the Scotland international highly and are reluctant to sell their prized asset.

And according to the Daily Record, Neil Lennon's side may look to move on.

It is said that Celtic were prepared to pay £1million for Taylor plus players on loan, one believed to be centre-back Jack Hendry.

However, the Rugby Park club want substantially more so a deal now looks unlikely unless there is movement from either side.

Taylor has made 121 appearances for Killie in all competitions since his debut in 2016.

The 21 year-old has been a consistent performer for the Premiership side and has established himself as a key member of their squad.

He made his Scotland debut in June against Belgium, as former boss Steve Clarke threw him in at the deep end after Andy Robertson suffered an injury and Kieran Tierney missed out.

It is also reported that Parkhead chiefs will now turn their head to Rosenborg left-back Birger Meling.

SunSport revealed that the Hoops scouted the left-back last week during their Europa League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Aren’t Rosenborg in Champions League qualifiers???

(Daily record ‘joirnalism’ at its finest)

Is Meling deal more or less likely ( or dependent on?) if they go out of the CL?

The way this has played out I reckon Meling’s top target but it’s unlikely if Rosenberg get CL money, so Taylor’s the backup.

    Pure guesswork though.

If it's gonna be meling can't see it before Friday. Lawell playing hard ball with killie. Now killie have an unsettled player who actively wants to go, killie have brought in another left back already. Conclusion: we will buy Taylor Wednesday for 1.5/1.75 and Hendry will go other way on loan.

Good news, I'll be happier with Hayes as backup than him.

No way should we pay over £1m for Taylor, and that’s whether he should even be at Celtic.
The most impressive LB I’ve seen recently Faitout Maouassa, played against us for Rennes(1st half only) and he was out on loan last year. Just a few weeks after our game they turned over PSG.
