1st time I've watched the national, it's horrible :47: According to Pete and Synchronized both died after the race. I'm no Animal psychologist but Synchronized was clearly stressed after AP McCoy came off him on the way to the start and should not have been allowed to run.

I like sport, I watch lots of sport, That wasn't sport

They could make it a bit easier, the fences are too high....I watch the race but always with my hands over my face waiting to hide my eyes when horses fall.

The BBC don't publish sweepstake kits for every other race in the horse racing calendar. People notice the Grand National because they have little choice. As I said first (and last) time I'll ever watch.

I heard them talking about how they levelled out some fences and filled in the water bits.....still high fences.

The horses love it though...they must....look at the unseated/fallen ones that continue to run the course jumping the fences.

because its the biggest race in the calender with the most money being placed on it by more members of the public than any other race ....i think you will find sweepstake kits for the Gold cup as well

They clearly wasted their money then!

I don't subscribe to the 'horses love it' way of thinking either. They're bred and then conditioned to race. They don't get a say in the matter.

What? How dies that mean they 'enjoy' it? What do you expect them to do, stop and say "* this I'm away hame"? Barbaric idiocy this * race. Disgusting. I'd rather see every human at the race * bombed than see a horse who had NO CHOICE but to take part die a * monstrous death. Animal cruelty of the WORST kind. Pointless.

    Strange principles.

But if that's what they are fair enough.

Yes that's what they are. Absolute and solid. I have no intentions of changing them. Ever. Thanks.

Keep in mind that I may find yours equally strange should you care to air them.

Today's two horse casualties bring the total of deaths in the Grand National to 69, since 1839. 87 known footballers have died playing senior football since 1889. Tens of thousands more spectators have been killed. There are casualties in nearly every sport.
Anyone who wants the Grand National banned on animal welfare issues, must also call for all sport to be banned on Humanitarian issues.

    One Event

    Tens of thousands of events.....

If a player was dying every year at the world cup they would end it. Simples.

    life.
