Produced by and starring Forest Whitaker. A series based on true events in the 60s and Harlem gangster Bumpy Johnson. New York crime families feature heavily with Vincent Gigante and Joey Bonnano the main protagonists. I’m on to season two and it’s been funded for a third. Can’t recommend this highly enough. 10/10

Acting and cast is unreal. Gus the chicken man from Breaking bad is amazing in this. If you like your crime stories then watch this.

Aye it's a brilliant show mate. All the cast are excellent but Giancarlo Esposito and Nigel Thatch playing Malcolm X are both particularly good. Adam Clayton Powell's chat is funny as * man. Halfway through the second series. It stopped working on my IPTV ages ago so been waiting for it to resume, but noticed the other day it's back working again so will probably finish it pretty soon.

Aye in the states they break seasons into two parts. That’s probably why you only got first half. I only started it about a week and a half ago. Powell and X are both brilliant characters and Forrest is an amazing presence on screen.

Aye he's excellent as well, so many brilliant actors and performances in it. The guys in Bumpys crew are great in it as well, especially the guy from Boardwalk Empire, Erik La Ray Harvey.

Haven't heard of this series before, but will be checking this out, thanks for the recommendation @packybhoy :)

If you're interested in like a prequel for this though (and admittedly it is a bit Hollywood-ized accounting of events), might be worth checking out the movie, Hoodlum, (Laurence Fishburne is Bumpy in that) which is kinda the story of the rise of Bumpy Johnson in the 1930's.

Just finished the second series. I think it was a little slower than the first series, but it's still a very good show. Will look out for the 3rd series.

The storyline regarding the Harlem riots and the atmosphere around that time was really interesting, have always been drawn towards stories from that period of time in the USA.

There's something I think you'd like Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street it's about the 1920 Tulsa race riot, personally didn't know about this untill recently, * horrible the way black people are treated especially in the us

Started watching the 3rd series tonight. Very disappointed that Nigel Thatch hasn't returned as Malcolm X. Scheduling issues apparently but I wasn't aware they had to replace him. Was one of the best in it!

It is brilliant mate. As I was saying last night, it is disappointing that Nigel Thatch hasn't returned as Malcolm X as he was immense in it but having said that the first episode of the 3rd series was still pretty good.

The Tulsa riots played a big role in the Watchmen series.
