Fair point. I was thinking more of the wingers..

Boli is probably the one he'd get most joy with. Frimpong likes to do it quick and lower....would likely be too quick for Murray at this stage of his career when he's burst past a defender and whipped it in.....it's unlikely Murray would be up with play..

I actually don't mind him as a striker by the way. He's been a very clever striker and arguably got better in to his 30's. Good hold up. Excellent movement. Good finisher. Good in the air..

Still can't see this happening anyway..

That's the thing tho, we NEED to be signing someone to compete with Eddy, we're reliant on him far too much. We need other options beyond a 36 year old striker who can't get anywhere near the starting XI of a side fighting relegation. We need an alternative to Eddy. If Eddy gets an injured and needs a rest or whatever, we need someone who can come in and actually replace him with goals, hold up play, and who has actual quality and is not on his last legs.

I'm sure there are a few players who'd be happy to come in as number two and try to earn their way into the starting XI, also the situation we're in with Cup games to come, plenty of league games, the Europa games there'll be plenty of opportunities. That's why we need another quality option, we shouldn't have even entered this season with only Eddy. Now that it's January we should be addressing the issue.

We don’t need 5 first team strikers, we play with 1. We need a single quality backup until Griffiths or Bayo proves themselves to be that.

If that’s Sporar then so be it but signing Sporar does not make the potential Murray signing either good or bad.

Murray isn’t the answer, that doesn’t change whether we sign another striker or not. Is my point.

A real physical frontman in this league has shown you can do damage and defences here don't like it..

From that * Morelos to Ikpeazu to Cosgrove to Menga. The list of them is endless that do quite well..

Team's struggle in our league against big physical player's who don't mind getting touch tight..

We could do with someone who offers that. Dembele did when he was in the mood..

We don’t need 5. We need 3 and Bayo and Griffiths are proving/proved to be unreliable backup.

Punt them and bring in Sporar and another. If it’s Murray then fine.

3 strikers of sufficient quality are a necessity for the amount of games we play.

The fact we were playing Morgan up top for a run of games recently shows that.

If we only sign one (Sporrar presumably) then we are taking a risk.

Aye Morgan sums up exactly how short we were/are and why Griff and Bayo can't be trusted..

In my mind we've got 1 striker. I've discarded the Griff of now and Bayo the same. Both need to be loaned out and revisted at the end of the month for me..

Aye, does neither of them or us any favours to be sitting stewing in the reserve league.

Bayo could get an English league 1/Championship side.

Griff would have to be closer to home for family and to keep tabs on his struggles. Hibs or Motherwell would be ideal.

Menga and Ikpeazu didn’t do well at all.

Menga scored two goals and is now punted out on loan to Angola.
Ikpeazu has scored 5 goals in 2 seasons and been awful for Hearts.

People overrate physicality in this league. It’s more tempo and how direct teams are than the actual strength of players.

Murray/Sharp would just slow our play down even more.

Big physical guy that likes to play in the box, would at least provide something different and an aerial threat.

Menga caused us and them problems in game's I seen and just couldn't really finish his dinner..

Ikpeazu is woeful but is definitely a handful in this league..

Curtis Main was the same at Motherwell. There's loads like them..

It's why we struggle more at grounds like Livi or Killie. Grounds like that big Cosgrove or some other big donkey will usually win them the game with a route one....whereas we are stifled and bullied..

He's too old. He can barely play the last 30 mins of a game. He's scored a few goals in the last couple of years when he became a kind of impact player, but it looks like that's gone now and he's struggling. He's just looking for a wee retirement package, doubt he'd even get a game for us.

Bring him home Lenny, 25k a week.

He’d be a good option off the bench, proper target man and good at getting stuck into defences, goalscorer as well. Main issue is his age and wages, not really going to be worth it as a super sub.

Couldn’t disagree more to be honest.

Menga and Ikpeazu are laughably bad.

We don’t need strikers who are going to be a handful. Bayo and Griffiths would be a ‘handful’ at any other team in the league. We need a serious option for when Edouard isn’t playing.

Sporar will probably be that serious challenger..

The one's linked and suggested now are more third choice strikers..

I never said we need either. Said we could do with one..

There's young strikers I'd go for first but I certainly wouldn't be against a battering ram type. Griff and Bayo are nowhere near what we need for the run in..

I'll echo what a lot of what has been mentioned.

If we can bring in Sporar and this guy on loan then it wouldn't be the worst thing. If it was just this guy then I think the board would be at it.

I also agree that having a guy up top that can hold it up can be invaluable. It would have been a different league cup final if we had a fit striker up top who could hold it up, as we are well capable of producing goals from midfield.

Just have to wait and see what happens.

Yeah we do need to bring someone in. What I meant in that original post is that Glenn Murray will not be the one we target to fully challenge Edouard. That's the entire point of what I said.

Again, it's one link to a player. Anyone who believes Glenn Murray is who we think will challenge and replace Edouard need their heid checked.

    Panic stations here!

I don't think he'll be brought in to challenge Murray, obviously. But I'm saying we need to prioritise getting another striker to compete with Edouard first and foremost.
