Could of really done with him last night, games like that when plenty of balls are played into the box would suit him imo.

I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Just got a bad vibe about him, maybe its about fitness and that penalty miss, dont know but its just a hunch.
Right now, would like to see Ange with a rootless streak and cut losses. Take what we can get for him, and reinvest. We will need to generate funds for the continued rebuild.
I know he has only played a few games, but he has been here a few months now, and just get that vibe.

Ma memory can be sketchy but did Hooper not have a similar start. Got fit for the new year game and announced himself on the scene with a brace and never looked back. To early to write the man off. Dont finish top goal scorer in Holland if your pish. Wednesday night was taylor made for him. He will be useful. Adds another option.

However I see your point. Our style and training might be to intense. He might not be the only player to fall by the wayside because of it.

embarrassing - stick to black boots and get on the training ground doing extra shifts, speed ladder, finishing sessions, sprints, turns and sweating to get fit for the start of 2023 season. snowflakes galore

    Geezus!

To think, even HALF of that, call it £30million spent better elsewhere.
Even £30million spent on 6 actually scouted players over the course of those 10 years at the right time, could have made us £100+million more in revenue!

when we badly needed a defender for UCL qualifiers, just spending £5million on a proven and scouted player could have helped us in some seasons to get and additional £30million.

Board logic in having an active hand in signings is * baffling.

    As for Giakoumakis - dud.

Signed as an injured player, with one purple season in him. Warning signs was that no other Dutch club bothered with him. Why didn't anyone in the club stop for a * moment and ask why, if this guy was so good last season, didnt PSV, Ajax, Twente, Feyenoord etc put a single bid in for him?
Why was it only us and Bremen, a 2nd division German outfit? That was the level a ginger hun defender went to, before ending up at Sheffield Wednesday and then Aberdeen - that's the * level of club that was the ONLY competition for this guy.

Who's only contribution to the club so far is a missed penalty and injuring himself in a warm up.

    Mental.

    Agreed.

But Rambo spent those "* years" as a development player. Hes technically STILL developing.

    Jackie is 27 ffs.

People are really going out of their way to ignore his absolute dug * record before Venlo.

    3 years at AEK?

    48 first team appearances... 3 * goals.

Thats not even including the YEARS hes spent mincing about the Greek 2nd division...NOT scoring.

The very first top scorer in Holland that NO top flight teams, either domestically or abroad, wanted to touch... Apart from us.

Nobody was even willing to take that cheap punt that we did, Ajax or Feynoord didnt want the leagues top scorer for a snip?
    Funny that.

People need to just come to terms with the fact that this is another dumpster fire signing by the board, with sticky fingers crossed, hoping he comes good.

Its abundantly clear this * was'nt properly scouted, otherwise his record would have been ringing alarm bells.

It's utterly disgusting Peej. It's Friday though and I'm trying to be happy about that. Thinking about what complete fuckwanks run our club gives me homicidal thoughts.

That was my thoughts too... As a club, these are not actually failure signings per se, as we probably broke even on the exit fees overall and they filled jerseys in our mental 60+ match seasons... The very fact we've continuously have transfer accounts in the black despite these 'duff' signings technically shows that the boards approach is working.

What it fails to show however is how pessimistically we invest versus progressing ourselves at our full potential. The Eddy purchase/sale show how we could easily set of a conveyor of pricey, more stable signings and turn profits too. Success is contagious everywhere, not just on the pitch. If we kept progressing our asset values and flipping them after every 2-3 years we could easily assemble a good CL level squad, performing there consistently

Is it working though, if we could in theory scout better, spend a bit more on one good player, who would then sell for a higher profit?

Instead of 2 players at £2million going for a combined £6-8 million, wouldnt it be better to buy one player at £4-5million who we then sell for £12-15 million?
