Except he's struggled badly at most of his clubs since leaving Celtic and his ability is no-where near what it was at his peak, which has a lot to do with a bad hip injury.

On his day which was admittedly few and far between he was unplayable and unstoppable. You're probably one of those types that once you decide a player is "*" you cant admit it when they turn in a great performance because it makes you look a bit silly.

Not a big game player, then. :56: Can't believe he's been gone for so long, but glad we've not thought twice about his departure. He was dung.

Exactly what we don't need. We need someone with something about them or a poacher. He does neither.

Same he was only “on his day” about 1 in every 10 games.

Really was something special on his day. There was a reason that before every European game, the opposition players would always cite Samaras as the big threat.

Sums up how polarising he was, when he gets called dung and world class on the same page. :56:

Why did we release him at 29 then, when he should've been entering his peak years?

If he was so good, you not think we sign him on a 2 year deal and sell him, then? Nah, he'd no sell on value...and thus had no value to the club on or off the pitch = dung.

That rationale is flawed. If he had signed a two year deal, he would have stayed at Celtic because that's where he wanted to stay. Whether or not another club wanted him, he didn't want to leave. His performances over his time at the club, though frustrating, proved he wasn't dung. Dung is players like Killen or Bangura, who did nothing in a Celtic shirt.

I liked him, on his day he was great, but that was less often than not. I think i liked him more for being a sound guy. Sadly that aint good for the books or the silverware. I'd like to say take him back but we can't exactly take back and bench every player that was a nice guy.

For the time we invested in him and the impact it had on our style and way we shaped up, I cannot say I miss him. Yes, if you really want to boil it down he is above players like Killen and Bangura, who never should've wore the Hoops, but he is one of the worst ever players we've had that has accrued the amount of games he did.

One thing about Samaras he really loved our Club and always gave 100% even if a number of his performances were not the greatest, more loyalty in his left Big toe than that £20 million goon who has just left us.Samaras became a life long Celtic supporter as well.
