I'd be a lot more nervous about this transfer if the fee was higher, say around £5 million, which is what I'd think they'd demand had they not been relegated.

but for around £2.6 million? I honestly think it's a no brainer.

Aye worth a punt at that price given the season he had.

More the merrier at this point tbh. Giak and Jota in for depth in attack, hopefully get another couple of defensive options in before the window closes too.

Aye right now I'd be happy with

    The Greek
    Jota
    A centre half
    Left back

If Edouard is off then we should be getting another striker as Griffiths and potentially Ajeti are also going out the door..

Think we could do with another in the engine room at 8 as well..

Yeah agree with all that mate.

Would be criminal if we don’t strengthen CB and LB.

Hopefully we’ve a few lined up man, bit worrying that there’s been no real rumours of defensive targets going about though. Couple of late loans maybe?

    Kyogo
    Abada
    Hart
    McCarthy
    Juranovic
    Giakoumakis
    Starfelt :92:
    Jota
    CB
    LB

Would be a very good first window.

I really don't get the negativity around this guy. Being the top goalscorer in a very good league for a relegated team is an unbelievable achievement. You ain't doing that if you are an average player. I know it's YouTube but he looks very good to me and will tear it up here. If we get him it will be an absolute steal and I think we'll look back on a fantastic bit of business.

Edit: his previous record shouldn't be a put off. Sometimes something just clicks for a player. It could be maturity, or a realisation of what they needed to do to get to where they want to be. From what I've seen this guy looks good and his last season speaks for itself. Get him in before someone else does

Seems to me a few lads are looking for the finished article "risk-free" striker which, if such a striker even exists, we can't afford. Looking back at our most successful strikers in recent years Hooper, Dembele, Eddy none of them came in with a box office reputation or had scored goals at the highest level over a number of years. The current model of scouting players who are showing potential and developing them is largely working so far.

This guy is a good bet imo. Wont even have pressure to be the main scorer with kyogo scoring every half a game. Love how were light in defence and overloading attacking options haha qaulity.

If Eddy stays then he won’t have pressure but if we sell Eddy I think there will be massive pressure for him to be able to come in and do the business.

Kyogo has already played half a season already he will need a rest at some point and this guy will have to get goals.

Giakoumakis dankt spitsentrainer Demouge na vier goals tegen Vitesse

In this article Giakoumakis thanks his specialisttrainer (and former goalscorer) Demouge, for helping him develop his game. He says that it was thanks to this training that he scored his 4 goals against Vitesse.

So yes I think that he scores more goals now, because he developed his game.

He has still played about 20 more games than nearly everyone else though, I hope that month is good enough.

VVV VENLO chief Stan Valckx has confirmed their star man Georgios Giakoumakis is on the brink of agreeing on a move to Celtic after the clubs settled on a £2.1 million fee.

The Greek striker was left out of his club's 1-0 defeat to Jong AZ Alkmaar on Friday night as he prepares to complete a move to the Hoops.

And VVV director of football Valckx confirmed after the game that the transfer will go through as soon as the 26-year-old agrees terms with the Parkhead side.

He said: "We have agreed a transfer fee with Celtic. It's now up to the player himself to discuss terms with the club for the deal to be completed."

The former AEK Athens hitman held talks with Bundesliga 2 club Werder Bremen, but they opted to spend £3 million to land Marvin Ducksch from Hannover instead.

And Giakoumakis - who netted 26 league goals in just 30 starts last season despite his club being relegated - will now be Ange Postecoglou's latest signing as his Hoops revolution continues at pace.

The Hoops snapped up Irish left back Liam Scales from Shamrock Rovers for £600,000 on Friday - and are pursuing a £2.5m deal for Georgios Giakoumakis from VVV Venlo.
